I would like to repaste my CPU and GPU and i was wondering if 1 syringue will be enough?
From which online store are you guys buying this stuff? Im looking for free shipping in canada.
thanks.
-
1 syringe is more than enough. You only need a small pea size.
-
I don't know about canadian free shipping but yeah, if you're using an entire syringe you're doing it wrong. Like Kaiten said, you only need to use a very small amount, usually the size of a pea depending on the surface area.

Ok great, ty for the info. I have never repasted before...
-
I repasted 2 times the GPU and 3 times the CPU (first time was a test, second not successful (too little paste) third was good ) and I still have for probably another GPU and CPU repaste
-
I dont plan to OC my system but only to change the thermal paste because its cheap and cant be harmful. Does lowering temperature only prevent cpu/gpu heat damage or actually increase performance?
Im asking that because im in my beginner courses of electronics and we are learning that higher temperature decrease resistance value, thus decrease the voltage. Processor has billions of transistors... -
On 1 tube I was able to repaste both the CPU and the GPU of the G73, my GPU and CPU of my PS3, and 2X xeons in my current system.
I still have a little left in the tube. As for Canada, sorry bro no idea. Got mine at Micro Center here for 3 bucks a tube. -
I've been thinking of repasting my ps3 also. Did it help you much? I have the slim one but it still a little load for my taste when watching blu ray.

I believe it was free shipping when I ordered from them. -
Awesome thank you!

Don't bother tearing down a slim. I repair them for a "living", and until it YLOD's for you, don't bother man. I have only repaired 1 slim so far and it was a drive issue. -
Helped me a TON but I have the original 60GB.
The slims are fine for at least another 3 years before the silicon crap sony uses wears off. -
i want to ask does anyone know other Thermal Paste similar to the IC Diamond 7
becouse it's hard to find in Europe
i have found
1. Arctic Silver 5 (which i think is almost as good as the IC Diamond 7, maybe one degree warmer)
and i don't know about the second one but also there are very popular Coolers for PCs
2.Zalman STG2 Super Thermal Grease
and last one
3. Arctic-cooling MX-2 Compound 30g
IF I DO A REPASTE I AM THINKING OF BUYING Arctic Silver 5 BECOUSE THERE ARE NO IC DIAMOND 7 HERE
is it worth it? -
For me it's quite good, I can't get ICD7 here in Mexico, I repasted my laptop twice using AS5, my temps on the GPU are: 53-55 C Idle, 54-57 while surfing and some applications on the background... the highest while gaming 86 C.

If I wind up having to repaste mine, (which will come eventually anyways), I will be using Artic Silver 5. I used this everyday in Xbox 360s and PS3s. I will use it for a couple of reasons. 1. I HAVE A LOAD 2. It does the job incredibly well for the price. I know people rave about the IC7, but I believe firmly in the AS5.
It is entirely up to you, anything "high end" will be better than the that comes from the factory. -
i've searched a lot of comparisions and i have found that best are
- IC Diamond 7
- OCZ Freeze
- Arctic Silver 5
i can't find the first 2 so it's up to the third
probably the IC 7 will be 1,2,3 degrees cooler
depends how good are you in repasting
THANKS FOR THE INFO GUYS -
w00t for Artic Silver 5.

TOO OLD
here is the answer which one to choose
updated: HardwareLogic: Reviews - The HardwareLogic Thermal Compound Round-Up
consider that the Arctic Cooling MX-2 is a little better than the AS5
IC Diamond 7
