Did you use Driver Sweeper to properly clean out 10.6?

So, after reading all of the "help" that you've been asking for, you didn't follow any of the instructions provided?

    Okay, do the following.

Uninstall display drivers from Control Panel.
Reboot into Safe Mode, run driver sweeper and clean out the remnants of that display driver.
    Reboot.
    Download and install stock drivers.
    Reboot.

I never bothered with Safe Mode, but it's probably best if you do it anyway.

    1) Download Asus ATI 10.1 Cat package.

It's newer and should have the support you want, and is just as stable as the stock set.

Just an FYI, im getting a lot better performance from the 10.6 in CS5 apps then even the 10.5 So installing older drivers is a little counter productive. Even if the 10.6's are a little hotter, its still WELL in the safe zone.

well im still having the same temps as when i was on the 10.6 .. im idling at around 65C. Is this normal? any way to resolve this?

Im using the AMD GPU Clock tool to monitor temps by the way. temps wont come up on HWmonitor

here are the temps. havent gamed yet and this is it

Your idle depends from your ambient. And you can use powerplay function to decrease core to 300 from 700. it will help to reduce your temps. For 700/1000 these idle temps are pretty common. So no worries, try games and watch your temps. you should worry, if your core will be hotter that 90-95C.(GPU Temp #1 on your screenshot). You can also look thread about G73 GPU temp on this forum.

Thanks. I was always watching GPU Temp #2. That was a relief, I thought this was somehow kinda high for 700/1000.

So where's GPU temp #2 coming from? That was always the one that made it up to a 100

Edit: Just switched to maximize battery in Powerplay and it adjusted clock settings to 300/1000

    here are the results

GPU Temp#2 is Memory controller on video card. As ziddy found out here it's normal when it hotter ~10C that other components. Here look how to adjust your powerplay settings automatically.

:D LOL this is first time I've seen GPU goes to 1000!!! Try another program AMD GPU clock tool will be ok. If you look GPU-Z shous GPU temps 93C. This is your memory controller temperature. it means that other components have lower temps. I assume that core is about 85-86C and memory 88-89C. These temperatures are common. So no worries. But check your temps with another program.

Coming out of sleep/hibernate, ATI clock tools will occasionally show 5555 degrees.

Also, I get 70 degrees (across the board - TSS0:68 TSS1:72 and TSS2:70) idle in 33C ambient (bloody heatwave... it's supposed to be COLD IN CANADA...) At least it doesn't go over NINE THOOUUUUSAAAAAND....

QFT! Same with the heat wave, though your temps still seem a bit high compared to the ones i get at 33, i'm around 65 idle. I never had a temp monitoring problem with GPU-Z before. I rarely sleep/hibernate the computer though. When gaming, it gets high though... got TSS0 up to 88C, stupid heat wave :(.

To OP, you temps seem pretty normal to me and keep in mind that ambient temps play an important factor in your overall temps.

My ambient is 27 and i still idle on 63-65. And go around 88C after 30 min of BFBC2 with all settings low @ 1600*900.
Now I can surely say that the 10.6 catalyst drivers are hotter. Wish they had the 1600*900 options on the 10.1
