    Ideal Framerate per second?

    Hey folks.

    I have a quick question. For many games out there on PC on a Asus g73 laptop what is the ideal FPS per second?

    Especially while playing shooter games such as Bad COmpany 2?

    is 60 the most ideal?

    I can get 60 fps in BC2 with 1080p and medium settings. The graphics are still much better than a PS3 at these calibrations.

    Playing in 1080p with high settings result a 40 fps. Which is also good but wouldnt this might be a disadvantage while online gaming if other players have 60 fps? Since in 60 fps the screen is much smoother.

    Also one last question.
    Would you prefer playing your games in 1080p with medium
    or a lower resolution with high settings?

    Anything over 30FPS will be perfectly playable.

    Your screens refresh rate ultimately decides how many FPS you can view. 60hz = 60 FPS 120hz = 120 FPS

    Online gaming is driven a lot by your connection. I know some instances where the game can become slow and choppy because of the connection. This has nothing to do where if you were playing in single player mode and getting 60fps.

    It depends on what game you're playing really. Some games look better with high res and low settings, and some look better the other way. Whatever looks best to you is what you should go with.

    To be honest around 30 frames per second just does not cut it for me and I will probably try to aim a min of around 45 if possible 60.

    I am playing BC2 online and when the fps is 60 rather than lets say 45, I can see a big difference in the way i play.
    Its much more smooth and fun. However lowering it to anything below 40 really kills my game.

    I am actually used to a 30 fps in most of the ps3 titles but will aim a min of 45 from now on...

    It is just a hard choice.
    60 fps + medium is a smoother gameplay
    while
    40ish fps + high is a prettier gameplay.

    Wish I could have both but its pretty hard in a laptop no matter what the GPU is especially in the latest games.

    Some of those games require SLI to be in very high on FULL HD.

    30 fps.

    60 is better but 30 is smooth already.

    Greater than 30fps is what you shoot for if you want to avoid noticeable stuttering, but it also depends on the type of game.

    High speed, quick movement games like first person shooters tend to introduce more stuttering even at 30fps, so 50-60fps would be preferred to keep the image you see on the screen smooth. Ideally, matching the output of the monitor (60fps, 120fps) would be the best, but it's often impractical for demanding games.

    there is no "ideal" frames per seconds since each game uses different techniques to draw on the screen, you could say that ideally you would want to have a frame ready to be drawn at the exact same time the monitor is ready to draw it (synchronize it with it's refresh rate, 60hz (60 times a second) on most LCDs including Asus's)
    the feeling of laginess in games isn't directly related to the nr of fps , but rather how stable the fps is,and how accurate the "distance" between frames is, you see many frames are "dropped" when you have more "fps" than the refresh rate of your monitor, many frames are calculated but never shown on your screen, if this gap between two frames is too noticeable you can perceive it as a form of "lag"
    TLDR: Since games can't know all frames in advance, even if your GPU can calculate lots of frames per second your monitor won't show them all, if there is a big gap between 2 frames that are showed the scene is not realistic, it may be perceived as lag.
