Does anyone know if it is possible to install Express Gate after having done a clean win 7 install (not from recovery discs, but from win 7.iso)?
Will it boot with the same key (twin turbo)?
-
Yes on both counts, it will install fine on a clean install and will boot with the Twin Turbo key.
-
I've done it. Had to search the Asus site to get the current Expressgate, as they didn't have a download on the driver page. But no problems once I installed it.
-
thanks guys. Not that I use it much (EG), but I rather know where I'm going.
-
I have 2 questions for you, jeprira:
1) Which version of ExpressGate did you install?
2) Do you have Skype in it? -
latest version of EG dun hav skype rite?
-
yeah, and I'm trying to find out (so far without success) why skype was removed from EG. If anyone knows why, please tell.
-
no skype... gone.
I got my version for Asus support site yesterday, I suppose it is the latest. -
Ok, guys, to make your life easier: the latest version of EG that still had Skype is 1.4.7.1 according to my trials.
I thought that maybe EG missing skype only for my laptop model because Asus "locked" it for some reason. Now I see that it is true for everyone. Still wondering what's the reason... -
I did a clean install of Windows 7 on my G73JH and Im not able to install Expressgate
It wasnt present on the drivers CD, so I went to the Drivers Download Page and I didn't find there either.
In the end I found it on the G73JW drivers page...but it wont install. I get this message (picture attached)

You've got to make the hidden, system partition bigger than 100meg.
-
thanks for the reply! I've just checked my partitions and the only hidden one is called Recovery and is about 10GB
-
You get this message because the new Express Gate v2.x doesn't seem to work on the G73JH - try v1.4.7.1. And you can get all the Express Gate versions here.
-
At some point, Asus changed Expressgate from Splashtop to VideACE. The later version has "Cloud" in the file name, and does not include Skype. Unfortunately there is no good documentation for Asus to explain the features and differences.
-
Really?
anything else different?
can you change the screen resolution? -
thanks very much for your help! Im gonna try that... is there any reason why it doesnt work did they officially dropped support? -
I have not had time to play around with both versions (or really the interest, I don't use it much). And Asus apparently does not believe in documentation.
-
What? I got an ExpressGate manual with mine. 49 pages!
Of course, only 4 pages were English, with the rest of the pages in 12 other languages. On those 4 English pages I learned a few ways to start ExpressGate, what the icons look like, and that I should consult the online documentation if I want to know more about any of the apps included in ExpressGate....

I have an Asus G53JW-A1 and did a clean windows install, made the hidden partition bigger and has 2.12 gb free now. I installed express gate but its not working. I download the latest one on the Asus website, I tried the one that came on my app cd, I just bought this on the 12th Dec. Any ideas?

I read your post too late, lol. Yesterday I went to the Asus website to get latest updates. I was excited when I saw Express Gate version 2.xxxxx. I spend long time downloading it from slow Asus website. I also saw the "cloud" part and I thought that maybe this one uses some sort of web cloud to store my files etc.
So, I installed it, shut PC down, pressed the EG button, and... found out that my laptop doesn't see EG installed at all. What a pitty! All that time for nothing (well, I did feel excited for the duration of download and install process, lol).
I wonder what laptops this latest EG is compatible with...
