Hi guys, I have a new 240GB Intel SSD here, and I have the G73SW notebook with 2 hard disk slot (Drive 1 contain OS and applications, Drive 2 contain only movies).

So I plan to move everything from Drive 1 to the new SSD using Intel migration software to continue using my windows and all its applications with it.

The problem now is I do not have a USB to SATA cable. Is it possible for me to remove Drive 2 and replace it with the new SSD, and then do the migration process? And finally taking the replace the Drive 1 with the SSD, and put the Drive 2 back to its original position.

Or is there any alternative? Suggestions are welcomed :)

What you suggest should work just fine.

Have you personally tried it yourself?

Also, will there be any potential problems or hiccups if I migrate my data from the HDD to the SSD? Will its performance be affected? Would it better to clean install windows on it?

A clean install is what I'd recommend. I cloned from one SSD to another from bay 1 to bay 2 in my G73 a while ago and it worked just fine.

Thanks for your information. Few more question I would like to ask.

Did your window prompt you to re-activate windows on the new SSD after cloning?

Also, which bay(left or right) is the 1st drive (C :)?

Before I am going to install the SSD, I just checked in my bios and my SATA configuration is already in AHCI mode, so my cloning should be fine right?

What software did you use for cloning?

    Thank you.

Yes ACHI is needed for SSD,so you are "good to go"

Also I would recommend a full backup to an external drive before you upgrade the to the SSD. Then if you do not want to do a clean install (clean installs are generally recommended by the experts here) try the Intel tool (easiest way)
