As an Asus g75vw owner, my biggest disappoint are the lack of Optimus and lousy stock wifi card. Since I can not do much about Optimus, I decided to upgrade my wifi card. Intel 6300 is currently the best option, but it needs the 3rd antenna to get the best out of it. So I got a set of Tyco antenna off ebay and started my upgrade.
I was able to get the antenna in and I thought I did a good job. But upon booting up, the machine was not able to detect the wifi card. So I 2x checked my install and played around with the antennas and found that I was able to get the system to recognized the card if I only connect the stock 2x antennas to intel 6300's 1 & 2 slots. I even tried using the stock main antenna in 1 and the one I installed in the 2 slot and it still worked. But it appears the signal is not stable, alternating between 104, 107, 114, and 130 Mbps. Still, I pressed on. Once I got the laptop to recognize the card, I then plugged the 3rd antenna into the 3 slot. And it worked. I was ecstatic. I then proceeded to screw everything in. Once I have done so, the laptop does not see the wifi card anymore. I am back to square one.
I suspect the cause may be the placement of my 3rd antenna, which is currently between the lcd panel and the thin metal shield. Has anyone installed a 3rd antenna in their G75vw successfully and give me some advise as to how to mount it?

I've installed the Intel 6300 in my g75vw, however due to the results in this thread, I didn't attempt the 3rd antenna. Has anyone been successful at installing a 3rd antenna with good results?
