Is this the wireless card I would replace the WA in my ASUS G73jh with?
"Intel Advanced-N 6200 Wireless Half PCI-E Card 300M"
If not could anyone specify the right one to buy?
Also how is the installation? Easy and straight forward?

Edit: seems Jody beat me *cough* and Chastity *cough* to the punch lol -
Alright awsome, thanks you guys. I just ordered it off ebay, I live in Canada so I could not order it from newegg.com and .ca didnt carry it (like 90% of anything else useful) I will update how the installation goes.
-
In December I ordered a replacement for my damaged 6200. The order got canceled and refunded with a message about it being back ordered or out of stock.
-
There's always Provantage.com
-
Also how much of a difference in signal strength did you notice when you switched to the 6200? -
If you bought it off eBay I hope you didn't get an engineering sample. I bought one on eBay and it didn't work. The seller refunded my money though. Chastity's provantage has a great price on it though. eBay was a total waste of time for me. All the good priced ones are engineering samples.

so does this card have a significant performance difference between the stock Bestbuy ver

Just remember that your router needs the have wireless-N 300mb/s to take advantage of the card.
This card will greatly increase files transfers and connections on your LAN.
It will NOT increase your internet speed or wireless range. -
Not sure what to blame on the Atheros card, the card itself or the driver, but buying the 6200-N was the best $28 I spent on my laptop. -
Hehe... this thread reminded me to buy one of these cards
Just bought one from newegg.com, linky:
Intel 6200 wifi card
I'm sure I couldve gotten one cheaper, but I love newegg -
Haha I find that funny Bluefalcon. I just purchased that same card friday. It got here today, and right now im downloading drivers for it and a firmware update for my Belkin Router (Which isnt supported by DD-WRT)
I still hope I dont get any connection drops like I had with my Atheros .

Well... the 6200 card didnt fix my issues, but it does work better, plus I get 5ghz now
There is WAY too much congestion in the 2.4ghz spectrum to make a difference around my house... I'm tempted to install backtrack on my second drive and nudge people over to a channel that doesn't interfere with me! I probably won't cause I am too lazy, but its frustrating when people sit on channel 3 and 9, blasting out wifi signals and causing interference on 2/3 non-overlapping channels in the 2.4ghz spectrum... is it really THAT hard to setup a wifi network at home... I know I am a network engineer, but come on people! -
whats the difference b/w this card and the stock card for the g73? what are the advantages of getting the 6200?
-
The 6200 is capable of twice the bandwidth, can use the 5GHz band as well as the 2.4GHz band, and many find it more reliable with less latency.
Whether there's an advantage for you or not depends on what you're using it for and what kind of router you connect to. -
^^ thank.
can some1 plz confirm that this is the same card and if the price is reasonable?

I just searched to find the for sale section for the WiFi cards, and it appears that person, for whatever reason, is not allowed to sell here anymore. -
Whats an ES version? This guy has like 100% feedback, so i dont think hes selling junk. shud i go for it

The price difference between the used one off ebay and a new one from a local retailer is minimal at best. Stick to a retailer to insure you are getting a proper module.
