How to know if its real?
look at this: eBay - The UK's Online Marketplace
It has a half instalation of a 3rd antenna connector.
Is it a real card?
If intel automatic update drivers recognize the card = genuine card?
Give your oppinion...thanks

That's what mine looks like.

they are different cards. the ebay one looks more like 6300 -
You forget one side has the sticker, one does not.

The real question is - are you getting a real Intel 6200 from that seller? No way to know until you receive it -

Can someone tell me if this is legit? Thanks!
Intel Centrino Ultimate-N 6300 633ANHMW wireless card - eBay (item 220669658167 end time Oct-14-10 20:25:59 PDT) -
All I have to say is be careful about the eBay Intel WiFi cards. I received a 6200 engineering sample that would not work. Luckily the seller refunded my money, but some other sellers may not. You best bet is to buy from an authorized seller. Babyhemi sells them here on the forums, and he/she is an authorized seller. Provantage is also an authorized seller. For under $30, you can't beat it.
If you do buy from eBay, looks for cards that have been pulled from a laptop, or a seller that is an authorized seller. -

Just check before I think further in replacing this WIFI card, I just plugged out the ATHEROS one and plug in the new INTEL one? Do I need to care about the antennae? I am staying in Singapore and the shipping from US cost more than the card itself. Probably I should take a risk and go for ebay.

I brouht DELL OEM 6200 card from Justop.
Genuine card. Sealed antistatic packet. -
Should be receiving my Intel 6200 card today, YAY.
I have a dual band router, is there any real advantage using the 5Ghz band instead of the 2.4Ghz, other than possibly less wireless traffic since I live in an apartment with about 20 other wireless routers LOL -
Besides that? Not really.
But it depends on your router if it supports 40MHz channels on 2,4GHz or not.
But my recommedation, go for 5 GHz if the distance is short enough. Much less congestion. -
Yeah I figured the 5Ghz would be better, assuming have the people in my apartment block know nothing about technology, so I'm sure none of them are on 5Ghz LOL
Still waiting for delivery, sat here waiting, but I'll update once it's in the laptop
Easy installWell worth the ~$20

Curious as to see the difference between Intel 6200 and the stock Atheros card. Can someone post before and after signal strength test and speedtest.net speed testing and pingtest.net results?
-
DOH, I should of tried the speed test before I swapped the card.
Maybe I'll do that over the weekend.
As for signal strength, both cards had a full signal (all bars) but then I'm in a small apartment so router is not that far away.
After swapping card, connection speed did go from 150Mbps, up to 300Mbps.
While copying an ISO image from my server, the connection speed did drop to 270Mbps.
-
I still use good ol' WRT54GS w/ Tomato firmware, so there's no bandwidth gain, but it'll be worth a purchase if I can get better signals at school as I sometimes get 2-3 bars.
