    Hi there.
I have an Asus G50VT, and it's decided to stop connecting to the internet, either by wired or wi-fi. It was working fine on Thursday, but yesterday when I turned it on, the internet wouldn't connect. I know that it's not the router as my mobile connects fine to the internet. I've tried everything I can think of, from resetting my network through windows (7), making sure the password is correct, to going into the command prompt and resetting all drivers. Basically all that an average user can do. Even googling the issue and using advice given to others has not helped me solve this problem. My last resort is to to a factory reset, which I've done before, but can't remember how to go about it. I don't have a windows CD or any boot discs however, and system restore can't help me because I have no previous restore points.
If anyone has any ideas, I'd be eternally grateful to you. I really miss internet!

Just curious, did you try going into safe mode with networking (F8 after power on) and see if you can connect? Have you ruled out a malware issue, or tried a different web browser?
If your recovery partition on your hard drive is still viable, try pressing f9 after the computer posts (following a cold boot). But be sure to backup any data before doing the restore.

If your NB shipped with Win8 you would create your own recovery media using Asus Backtracker
if shipped with win 7 download the AI Recovery program and create you restore disk set.
Seeing as both your LAN and WiFi are not connecting I suspect your dealing with a windows or security problem blocking network connecting?

I tried safe mode with networking, and still nothing. I also tried another browser, opera, but still no joy.
F9 doesn't seem to help me, as I have no recovery partition.
I have backed up all my data, so whatever I need to do isn't an issue.

My laptop was shipped with vista, but I had a friend upgrade it to 7 ultimate for me. I didn't get a disc with it.

I think it needs a proper system restore, but I'm not sure how to do it without a back up disc or the windows disc.

I have the product key, so I'll give that a try. Thank you for the link. I'll let you know how it goes.
