Is RMA the only option for a bad BIOS flash?

I was updating the BIOS to 211 by using the easyflash method in the BIOS menu. Updated the BIOS and everything seemed to go fine and it said it would reboot in 2 seconds, after 2 seconds it shut off.

That's it, my G73 is now dead. No lights, no fans, no nothing, it is like pushing the power button with no power source connected.

Is RMA the only option to fix this? I have fixed bad bios flashes with other laptops before, but it is an old method that I am not sure if it still is valid. Is there any working method that anyone has tried?

    I have the A2 model.

    That wouldn't work...

His laptop doesn't turn on, not at all. It wouldn't be able to boot to access the flash drive.

So yes, the only way to fix that is to RMA. Not sure if Asus has a way to recover, but I'm guessing it's a MB replacement.

Yup, it's a MOBO replacement. Good thing they generally have those on hand, it's the GPU that is in demand and needs to be shipped from asia.

Thanks for the links. I tried a similar recovery on a different laptop and it worked even though it was totally bricked. But neither method works with Asus. It is dead. Oh well, off to RMA I go.

Was this different laptop have AMI BIOS? If so, the AMI BIOS recovery procedure does work & it is much simpler than Phoenix BIOS recovery. All my life, all of my computer is using Phoenix BIOS. :D By owning an Asus notebook, now I have AMI BIOS powered computer. :)

Let me make this clear for you.

IT DOES NOT WORK. LAPTOP DOES NOT TURN ON. THERE IS NO POWER. NO WAY FOR IT TO ACCESS DISKETTE OR FLASH DRIVE. DOES NOT TURN ON, NO POWER.

You're very funny ziddy. :D You're clearly don't understand what I'm talking about. On previous post I'm asking about his another laptop, not his G73. LOL. :D

Sorry to hear your troubles MrSeaBass. As a long shot have you tried removing the AC adapter, your main battery, the RTC battery and leaving it like that for 10 minutes then connecting the AC adapter and see if it will power up?

What type of AMIBIOS is the G73 and have those recovery methods mentioned earlier proved to work for it when the boot block is still intact?

They don't pay for shipping and it costs $99. There is no guarantee they will fix it faster than Asus, or even any guarantee they can fix it. With Asus, they can always just replace the MB.

I would RMA than risk sending it to these dudes. Only way I would send to them is if the G73 was out of the warranty period and to replace MB would cost $400 or something.

Otherwise makes no sense at all.
