Hi: I bought a G73JW A1 a while back not because I'm a gamer but because it has almost everything I want in a laptop. I transferred all my files from my HP Compaq and everything was super for a week. Then the keyboard lights stopped functioning...they initially come on for a few seconds at boot-up but turn off. I contacted ASUS and received an email instructing me to return it for service, but that would have been very inconvenient. After a Google search, I found this forum and discovered there's fix for my problem, but I'm rather uncomfortable writing to the Bios. My question: Would a patch fix this, and is it likely that ASUS will issue one in the near future? Other than the keyboard problem, the A1 is an exceptional machine. Thanks.

There are instructions for this here: http://forum.notebookreview.com/asus-gaming-notebook-forum/513264-keyboard-light-fix-gary-key.html
I'm not really sure what your question is, since the fix already exists... give it a try.
Edit: Oops. You have a JW, not sure that fix applies. Maybe you need to reinstall your ATK drivers. -
Thanks for the lightning fast reply. I'll give it a try and let you know how it goes.

No luck. Thanks for responding, though.

Hmm. does the light adjustment work in bios? (Boot to bios and adjust the brightness .. function+f3/f4)?

...er, see under my name where it says "newbie"? AllurGroceries' suggestion to reinstall the drivers did work. When I rebooted, the keyboard lights came on, but turned off again. I u me d they were still not working, but the function F3 showed they were turned off. (BTW, that was the first thing I tried when the lights originally stopped working.) Thanks, guys!!!
Is it possible that ASUS will issue a patch for this?
