And should I even keep this pc? Seems like everywhere I look in this forum that someone is saying it's crap with a low res screen, the screen die's, some catalyst problem thing, ATI driver something issue, BIOS issues, thermal paste degrading, slow hard drive, etc etc etc. All I see is negative stuff in here about this thing so now I am doubting if its gonna last or not. I only want a pc for light entertainment purposes (watching vids, surfing the net) and for work related things. I do not and will not ever be a gamer. I just liked how this thing looks and thought the specs were way better than almost every other laptop I was finding for the price. Brand new it cost me 1320 after taxes at BB. Should I take it back and get something else that is cheaper and better? You guys have me seriously doubting my purchase right now.

    Awesome thank you so much!

Well, mine failed, but I assume it's a lemon.

Most people's have held up fine, and remember this forum only represents a small portion of owners, many which have come here because of problems. It's not as bad as you think.

Once your BIOS/Vbios are up to date, and once your temperatures are okay (you may need to repaste.) You'll be fine. That said, I don't know why you spent $2000 on a gaming computer if you don't game. It may have been a better investment to go with more of a dumbed down PC, like an Inspiron.

That sucks, really sorry to hear that.

Yeah that's true I think I am just seeing to many negatives and forgetting the positives.

Thankfully the BIOS came updated already right out of the box and I haven't felt this thing get past a tiny bit warm so far. And I definitely did not spend 2 grand on this thing! It was 1199 at BB brand new. For the specs and the screen size I felt like this thing would not be out dated spec wise as fast as many of the others. And yeah I had an Inspiron that just died on me over the weekend and had to have alot of warranty work on it from the get go....so I am now quite wary of Del. It cost me twelve hundred bucks some 5 years ago so my new one is hardly much more in cost! Asus seemed like the way to go from most review sites. I thought this being a gamer laptop that it would be tougher than non gamer laptops, but that seems not to be all together true.

I really appreciate your thoughts by the way!

Think about it. The people who have a perfectly working laptop out of the box would not be on a SUPPORT forum. There are only a handful of members here with problems. Personally, I was able to sort all my problems (minus a tiny keyboard lag) out, and I couldn't be happier with my laptop. If you don't feel confident with this laptop or ASUS' 2 year warranty, then take it back. But if there's nothing wrong with it, and there are no signs of anything negative so far, why panic?

Well I am here but that's simply because I am looking for issues before I have them haha! After my last laptop I am kinda paranoid I guess. So far it has been terrific in my few days with it. I dont think I have even felt it get warm as it always feels very cool, but I haven't had it on much more than an hour or two each time.

I am interested in this second solid state boot drive I keep reading about in here. I guess it boots up windows way faster! Once I pay down my credit card I think I may try and do that if its not too difficult! I hear the hard drive mine came with is not so great at 5400 rpms even though its plenty big for me. My last pc was only 80gb and I only filled a little more than half of it.
