Sooo, I have been looking for a desktop replacement type laptop, and stumbled across the thread with a linked G73JH refurbished for $850.

I already have an M11x. I am in love with it, it has great battery life and runs all my games adequately with high portability.

However, I would like another laptop that is a little less portable, and will play games with a little more flash.

This laptop seems to fit the bill, but I figured I'd ask anyway.

Is this a good laptop to use in combination with my M11x?

IMO, since you already have the M11x for your portable gaming needs, go with a more powerful desktop instead of a laptop.

I have to concur here. I just ordered the computer your speaking of and am waiting on it. For the same amount of money you could buy a very nice desktop and make it run like no other.

I'd definitely build a desktop. For $900 you could build a i5 or i7 quad core w/6 gb of triple channel memory, a ssd, 1TB of data storage, a real 5870, a 24" 1080p monitor, etc. Such a computer would own a G73 and you could upgrade it. If your M11 satisfies your mobile needs then you don't need a G73.

Now if you wanted to replace your M11 that would be different. But there isn't a lot of reason to own two portable gaming laptops. If you want one, and you sold your M11, then the G73 is an excellent upgrade, and I take my G73 to work, so it is fairly portable.

See I am actually more of and AMD guy, but I do agree completely. You can build a NICE desktop for 900 bucks and be way more functional and reliable.
