Is the G73sw really this terrible or am I unlucky/misusing it?

I bought an ASUS G73sw about 8 months ago and have already had to send it back for service like 3x, among other issues. I've had the fan stop working, the battery chargers stop charging, the battery stop working, etc. I'm contemplating trying to just sell this thing, throw in the towel to, and buy an apple macbook pro like I was inclined to do the first time around, but haven't done so yet. Hell, just the money spent on replacement batteries and chargers will add up to a macbook soon enough.

Like many other young people these days, I use my laptop a lot and will often times go days or sometimes a week or two without turning the computer off, except for the occasional reset, but I know many others that do this too with other laptops that don't have this issue. Any advice on what I can do? Is there some cooling trick for heavy usage with this model to help? Any others experienced this?

Why exactly did you have to send it in for repairs 3 times?

Just damn unlucky chap. You could have got exactly the same model and the bloke picked another from the pile and it had been fine. Its just bad luck. Some of us even bought the JH in an awful state and fixed it up to perfect working order it really does depend on if the manufacturing machines I7 was running a little hot during production :D

If it is fixed and now running fine I dont think you need to throw in the towel to be honest fans, battery and charging are common minor issues. Stick with it.

Yeah I read that in OP too, I'm just wondering exactly what they did and if anything like the motherboard or entire unit have been replaced at any point.

@Python49, Any more details about the specific problems you have had would help in determining whether you have a lemon or just bad luck. Sometimes ASUS service centers can be to blame as well, turning a small issue into a bigger issue via incompetence or misunderstanding.

I've owned 2 G73JH's and the first one while good was not as good as the second. Both were refurb's the first had a scratched screen but that was due to use. However the bottom access panel never fit properly and was loose. Sometimes you just get a lemon and sometimes it's bad luck. It just depends on your POV.

Sometimes I question how and if other people are actually using thier G73 laptops. I've also RMA'ed more times than I can count for similar issues. All in all, I have had various brands of G73's (JH, JW and now SW) numerious times. Each and everyone of them had the same exact issues. The touchpad is horrible for me, the chargers burn out or stop working, the charger port is the part making your battery fail.

All on all, this laptop did it for me. I will never buy another Asus product in my life. At one point, Asus RMA had my laptop more than I have, and now that a year's gone by, I'm stuck with this POS, with the same damn issues.

GL though, it's not just you, they are garbage laptops, horrible design, horrible manufacturing.

BTW, Chastity is more of a help than any Asus employee, take his/her word for everything. Thanks for making this garbage barable until I can afford a real laptop Chastity.
