The maximum lid angle on my G73sw is becoming really problematic now that I'm using the laptop more as a laptop. Does anyone know of a mod or fix for the g73 so it opens a bit wider? Thanks!

Using the laptop more as a laptop! I love it :)

You can whip the back panel off and take a look for yourself, Remove the battery and undo the 2 screws underneith that hold the panel in place along with the 2 either side of the battery as per the picture below and then pop it off. The lid is held on by 6 screws in total with a pretty solid hinge you will need to take a look and see what is actually preventing it from going back any further but I do not think it is going to be possible.

Before you even attempt this be aware that the wiring that comes through the back of the base is not very slack as there are clips and tape in place to keep everything tidy, there will be enough cable for it to go back further but you must first go inside and free up some slack before attempting it or face a tugged wire and then a repair job to get the screen or wireless working again.

    Hi Yiddo,

Thanks for that! I think it's just going to end up being more trouble than it's worth and I'll have to get something a bit smaller. Carrying it everywhere was also getting to be a bit much. When you're hauling it from car to house that's one thing. When you carry it with you everywhere you go, that's something else entirely. :)
