Anybody know what this is that keeps popping up for one split second on my task bar and then disappearing? I took a screenshot of it to catch it. It does it every minute or so. Is it some kind of virus? Screen capturing program? http://img404.imageshack.us/img404/6495/qk.jpg

Python49, as a work around, Edit post - go advanced- manage attachments - add files .... if the files is huge do not click insert inline, click done once it is uploaded so it will become a thumbnail
    attached is an example

If you hover over the icon in question does a description window pop up? If not is the icon you refer to the one furthest to the right?

yes, it's the icon furthest to the right. it's an icon that pops up on taskbar of a camera and scanner it looks like and it disappears after 1 second. it happens every minute. i opened my task manager to look at processes and looked closely then noticed that when it pops up, something in my task manager also pops up called "Liveupd.exe". i did a google search on it and this guy had the same issue: liveupd.exe" kept appearing and disappearing on my task bar and in - Microsoft Answers

it also minimizes movies when im watching them too.

NICE, it appears to be ASUS live update, If you have it installed remove it from programs and features, it is know to be buggy many here do not use it.
If you do not have ALU installed open MSconfig and see if there is an entry for it in the startup tab, then uncheck it.

If you miss ASUS Live Update after you uninstall it, don't worry - there are plenty of viruses out there you can use to replace it...

Asus live is actually kinda nice, it downloads update and install on its own. However it's pointless to use it because Asus rarely release any updates.

Add to that the updates tend to fail often if you try to do them through ALU.
