    Asus G71GX

This is a good deal (spec wise) if this was a good machine in it's prime. I'll mainly use it for work, but I like to game when I travel. Mostly MMOs.

    Thoughts?

    I'm replacing an Alienware M9700.

Great specs. Good price...you only get 90 days warranty, but save a few hundred off the original price. Not many laptops that powerful at that price.

i sold mine for 700 bucks. I'll just warn you, the viewing angles and color reproduction is a little bad. so much so if you filled your screen with a solid color, you'd be hard pressed to find an angle at which it all looked the same color. and it runs a little hot, my gpu made it into the low 90s with a cooler playing modern games like arcania and crysis.

I wish my wife would talk me into buying a G53 (next new laptop is her turn anyway...). At least now you get the full Asus warranty and an updated GPU.
