Hello, I noticed that my laptop's dc jack was becoming loose, sadly, red sparks and smokes came from it while it was operating. In addition, I sent it to a work shop a month ago, and they had managed to repair the jack. Unfortunately, the same exact issue had happened again. After that, I sent my laptop to the same work shop, but, Ive been informed that the ac adapter provides a high and a fluctuating volt, thus , the jack cant withstand such condition. Finally, I've been informed that the only possible fix is to reduce the voltage and the current coming from the adapter! which damages the mobo in the long term if not immediately !.
What is your opinion forum? what should i do? and how?
Note: I'm pretty sure that the work shop technician had used a jack from another notebook.
Regards.

It sounds like they don't know what they're doing. I've replaced over 100 dc jacks and the only problem you might have after you replace it is that the end to the power adapter is damaged. Though i've managed to pull out pins that were stuck in the adapter tip so the customer didn't have to replace the adapter. The asus adapters have a rather large middle pin. You should check to see if your dc jack looks the same as it did, it could be the wrong diameter and have some play in the connection.
This is the jack that your laptop needs

Make sure that's the same jack that's on your laptop (you might have to disassemble it).
You can also take a multimeter and check power at the dc jack. Look at the information on the back of your adapter. It should say something like output: 19V @ 6.32A. Check to see if you're getting 19+V at the dc jack.
If you can't do any of this then you can send it to a place that can. There's no reason the laptop can't be repaired correctly. -

They told me yesterday that they managed to lower the voltage and the current
coming from the adapter, and i think they had lowered the voltage to 5V and the the current to 5 A too, also, he told me that you cant charge your battery anymore !!!. I asked him to not mess with them, but he had already
done that.... .
basically, I will order a new jack, but I don't know if I can change my adapter's
current and voltage to their own original values.
Regards.
Please forum help me out, One last question, can I apply any voltage and current
on a dc jack, or it has to be certain values ? -
He needs to be shot, he can't just go modifying the laptop like that it won't run properly (especially a gaming laptop with a powerful gtx460m). If it does work it won't work for long and you will probably fry a component and the motherboard will have to be replaced.
You should just order a new dc jack and a new adapter and bring it somewhere else. I can't believe there's hackjobs out there that modify the power supply like that.
If you want to send me a pm or email i can help you out. Though the laptop has to go back to the way it was designed or something is going to go wrong. -

I ordered a new AC adapter + new jack, thanks for the help. I'm going to the
workshop tomorrow's morning and I hope technicians have good excuses.
Thanks. -
Worse case scenario you can always send it to my shop and i'll do it for you. Though my shop is located in Grand Rapids MI in the USA. Might be cheaper shipping wise if you got it done in your state/country (don't know where you're from).
Let me know how it goes and what they say. I talked to my dc jack supplier and the owner of another computer store i do xbox repairs for and they both agreed with me. Something is going to fry or break or the guy is just giving you retarded answers so it sounds like he did something. -

hello, I have 4 xbox 360 motherboards, and all of them are suffering from RROD.
I tried to re flow them with a heat gun, unfortunately, the only possible fix is to replace balls( it sounds funny ^^) of the GPU and the CPU. Can you please
PM me your exact location? also for how much you would repair them?

You wont believe the following, technicians had fixed the problem, but they
couldnt achieve that without breaking touch pad pins, missing screws, some
pieces are bent. I tried to dissemble my note book to check if there is any
damage done to other parts, and this is insane I tried to fix 1 simple problem
but im ended up fixing 10 others, If you have some used parts for asus G53Jw
Im ready to buy them at any cost.....
things I need:
1- plastic piece ( which has brands labels eg.nividia intel, also the one that has a touchpad).
2- Screws and lot of them!!!!!.
3- A keyboard.
there are also damaged areas on the surface of plastics covers ( top of the note book , and lower parts of it !!!)
I think I had learnt my lesson....
they already ed the ac adapter as well....
I asked him for a warranty, his answer is 1 week ofc......
I guess its the time to believe there are people who are far more stupid than
expected, Its a shame to be a human nowadays.....
anyways, If you still have such part, I can buy them, Im tired of ebay....
