    Hello,

Ive had my Asus for almost 2 years and have been very happy with it. Ive read in the past about people with wifi issues. I dont have the same range as my friends dell since where I live the only way I can get internet is wireless ly. No options to run a cable. Its been ok for a while but last night it see's the network but I click it to connect and it tries and says cant connect(although the signal strength shows as excellant) My droid can connect to the wifi so I know that the network hasn't gone down like it does occasionally.

Right now Im tethering my droid to get online but need to do something. I uninstalled the 5100 agn in device manager and let it reinstall and load the new drivers. 2 days ago i did that and it started working. Well that isnt helping now. In device manager it says its working properly(see's the availible wireless networks but not lets me connect to them).

In the past it was mentioned to upgrade to the 5300 card with the 3 antenna's vs the 5100 with 2 antenna's. Is there a better wifi card availible now? Im unemployed so money is a little tight. I saw the 5300 card on ebay for around $20 but not sure if its worth wasteing the money on it or not.

    thanks
    deryk

Do you have the same problems with all wireless networks?

It sounds like maybe an authentication problem?

Well, Im not sure. I brought my laptop over near the "source" and I saw the network and it was saying an excellant signal and wouldnt connect. I went back home and a few minutes it conected and has been working fine.

I ordered the 5300AGN PCI-E Mini Card and will install it and give it a try. I just dont get why its working then it stops, see's the network but cant connect...sometimes I get the error about a weak signal yet my droid says the conection is excellant. I talked with the guy who runs the wifi here and no one was there last night and nothing changed.

Maybe you should try reinstalling your wireless drivers?

I have an Asus G50VT as well and the Wifi problem is a permanent problem for me. I have tried a lot of thing, including reinstalling Windows, try various drivers but no luck. The problem seems to be happened after either one of the Windows updates or installing Asus Hotkey driver, I'm not so sure about that. Anyway I bought an external USB Wifi and Wifi is not my problem anymore.
Btw, Wifi works great in Ubuntu Linux.

Well I ordered the 5300 card and installed it, except we are haveing internet issues due to a storm lol. Verizon was out yesterday and its still actin quirky and sometimes the signal drops and my droid loses connection with it so if both disconect for a moment then its probably not the laptop. Will see what happens when its back working right again.
