Hello, I have an ASUS G73JW, seems like the bios is from AMI, dunno what AMI stands for but anyhow.

I put the recovery cds in today to restore the computer to it's default.

When everything was done I felt I had random freezes so obviously I started fishing around to find the issue.

Usually is the ram, so I ran a memtest and found out it's set to 1066mhz instead of 1333 mhz.

I enter BIOS by pressing F2, bt I cannot see any advanced features anywhere nor can I find the specifik command/keystrokes to press when I google it. All othe combos i've read such as

    CTRL+F1 to F12 = doesn't work
    ALT+F1 to F12 = doesn't work
    SHIFT+F1 to F12 = doesn't work

So how the hell do you enter the advanced bios features so I can fix this?

I appreciate solid answers, i've been sitting here for approx 8 hours now and I've even sent ASUS a message, but it's taking too long!

    Regards!

open your access panel. is your ram physicaly 1333 or 1066? i never saw a g73jw with 1066 so it is unlikely you have one but you should check

The BIOS in the G73 and G53 is extremely limited.

Unless there is a secret incantation that hasn't been found I don't think there is any more than the menus you see. ;)

Memory is entirely dependent on SPD, there is no manual control of timings or clocks. :(
