Hi Everyone,
Last week I posted a thread about my asus g73 switching from battery mode to ac mode constantly when it was plugged in, I send it for repair and today they informed me that it was dead, they change the main controller for the battery and it didnt turn on and then they replaced it with the old controller but it was dead, now my question is there a solution for this problem or should I consider buying an HDD adapter to save my data???
I guess I dont have warranty because they opened it, and is there a way to change the mobo?

If you sent it in for repair, shouldnt they fix it under warranty then?? I have not opened an asus G73 yet, but on older laptops what ive seen happen commonly is that the AC Powerjack breaks off from the motherboard and then can no longer charge the battery. Once the battery runs down on charge, it can no longer power on the laptop. Some laptops have the power jack soldered right to the board, some use a two wires that plug into the motherboard from the AC jack.
Anyrate, ive had some success resoldering the powerjack on dells. About 66%... -
Honestly as long as the sticker on the heatsink is still there you should still have your warranty, but if you sent it to some schmo in timbucktwo before sending it to asus to have it repaired you may have just ruined any chance of getting it repaired.
Although as long as the system is still stock i would say call up asus and say hey its not getting any power and maybe they will do the repair.
But whoever said that you dont have warranty anymore they probably dont know what they are talking about so double check it yourself. Last time I let someone guy with a repair certificate locally touch my rig i ended up spending $300 for no reason other then them to lose 2 of my keys and about 12 of my screws to the laptop. And it took me looking around on the net to find out that the video card was toast and it was a $150 video card that i could have done myself, So save the trouble have em send it back and call asus and try and get it repaired plus they can verify if they did damage to it and you can have those people held responsible for the cost of repairs. Just keep all information about em handy so if it does come to that they will be footing the bill for ya. -
Yeah would be good to know who you sent it to. If you sent it to Asus RMA, then they would just replace the parts. Your notebook is under parts and labor for 2 year warranty. A battery controller dying is not your fault.
I hope you didn't send it for repair without an Asus RMA just because you read some scare stories about Asus RMA. If you did, then yeah, you just screwed yourself.
Its official my asus G73 is dead
