This is probably a real long shot but worth a try asking.

I really like/d using Yougamers.com for their requirement checks when I had my 720QM but since upgrading to a 920XM I have been unable to do so because it is a QS model and when I run the requirement checks I get a message saying my CPU is not recognised it is either too new or not on their database. I would assume the website is not recognising my CPU due to it being a QS model.

I know I can use other hardware requirement programs but personally they are wack and are full of tons of pop ups and I dont feel are as accurate as the Yougamers site. Does anyone have any ideas around this? Could this be a driver issue or a hardware issue?

In all honesty, such system requirement checks aren't necessary at all. In fact, all these can-you-run-it and its equivalents are nothing more than cyber ego strokes.

You have a quadcore cpu with a formerly top of the line mobile GPU. It will run most if not all games; just don't enable too much AA and anistropic filtering on the latest titles.

On topic, it could be as simple as a registry trick to get the site to read the name of the CPU.

That is what I need to know so if anyone can advise on a way to show the CPU being an OEM/Retail?

I understand that these sites are nothing but guess work but that is not the point I want to try and get it to work as it at least gave me some idea of what games I should and shouldn't think about buying.

I'm curious about this too. Even though mine is supposed to be an OEM, it's showing up a a QS/ES model in CPU-Z and other programs. It probably is an ES version, but it would be nice to change the registry to show it as a regular 920XM.

I came across this site that explains how to change it, but I want to know what the correct name is.

If it shows up as ES in CPU-z then it is not an OEM it is an engineering sample. Hope you didn't pay for an OEM.

Because Yougamers checks the hardware I dont think changing the processor name would make a difference sadly.

I'm not too concerned. I only paid 200 bux for it. It was listed as "not an ES", but it's no big deal.

I don't think there will be any game until the next gen consoles are out that the JH with 720qm/5870M won't be able to play.

We can always just play at 720p at the very very worst case scenario. But believe we can play at 1080p with medium settings for any game that will be released for a few more years.

Yeah the 720QM is good but it is quite low powered when 4 cores are active and in benchmarks it is beaten by some C2Q models, the 920XM upgrade has been massive for me and I am noticing more and more a performance boost from it. For the price its a bargain and to be able to compete with Gen 2 as well well worth it!

I couldn't agree with you more. My frame rate in BFBC2 has jumped significantly, and I was able to up a lot of detail settings and still have better FPS than I did with the 720qm at lower settings.

Just bumping this thread for anyone interested that Yougamers does now register the QS model of the 920XM :D

It just comes up with a Red marker saying that is cannot run because its an unknown CPU but does not give the grey box anymore.

Funny enough the CPU is a little off the chart anyway so no worries there LOL. XM FTW.
