Hey, I have been a Dell user my whole life, figured I wanted to try something diff and picked up an ASUS G74Sx from Bestbuy...

Im not exactly as tech savvy as most on here, and this may be a dumb question...but....I didnt receive any discs in the box....everything was pre-loaded, but I didnt get any software at all in the box....is this normal? yes? no?

That is normal. You should have been prompted to make your back-up copies when you turned on your machine. I recommend you do it sooner than later.

    Congrats on your purchase!

By the way, I have used Dell mostly as well. The ASUS keyboard took a moment to get used to, but I love it now!!

Yeah the keyboard is pretty different....the 1 thing that keeps messing me up is the smaller shift key on the left side...i keep hitting the button next to it.

I have had mine a week and still dinking with it.

The delete button was getting me… If you go between the Dell and the ASUS, it is a lot of fun, but I have that straight now.

Is the weight of your notebook bothersome to you? Do you put it on your lap or always use it at a desk? I was going to get a much more powerful machine like yours, but the size was a little much. I like to use mine as a laptop and the 9.5lbs was a concern for me.

I just use it as a desktop replacement...it doesnt move baiscally lol...I got it for 1399 plus tax...i think thats a pretty decent price when I compare it to similar Alienware and Qusmio models.

hey, I am happy for your purchase but I would consider returning it and I shall explain why.

You should consider buying this one
ASUS G74SX-XT1 Laptop Computer - Intel Core i7-2630QM 2.0GHz, 12GB DDR3, 500GB HDD, Blu-ray Player/DVDRW,3GB GDDR5 NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560M,17.3 Full HD, Windows 7 Home Premium 64,1-Yr Warr./1-Yr Acc. at TigerDirect.com or check out xoticpc and the likes

All ASUS gaming laptops at BB seem to have a gimped video card and smaller screen. You can read about it on here, http://forum.notebookreview.com/asus-gaming-notebook-forum/602787-g74sx-bbk7.html

I understand its a hassle to return and order via online and it might be a bit more expensive but if you game on this laptop, I'd def consider doing what I am recommending.

Regardless I just felt like leaving my 2 cents since you still have time to turn it in.

lalalaprise, I looked up the ASUS G74Sx's at BB, and the lowest price one is $1,199. If that is the one you got, and you decide to stick with it, you should be able to get some $ back.
