Hi there guys few days back my HD failed. I gave my laptop to Asus for warranty claim. Now they replaced both HDs and Installed fresh windows, recovery and the bloatware. Now for the fresh start i wanted to know..

What is backtrack and how to use it?
If I want to Install fresh genuine copy of Windows 8 how can I do that without going pirate? I dont have Win 8 Disc.
If I repartition Windows drive and all other drives leaving recovery drive, will recovery work?

    p.s. I have Asus G750JS

I assume your laptop comes with Windows 8 already. The easiest way to recover Asus laptops is to press F9 before Windows start booting (then select Troubleshoot and Reset). That way, you do not need any recovery DVDs whatsoever. It will recover the factory image, which does include some bloatware. If I were you, I would simply uninstall any unwanted software either via Programs and features or using some 3rd party uninstaller (like Revo uninstaller pro or what ever software you prefer). It would ensure that you can always go back to factory image in the future if anything goes wrong/windows stop booting etc.
You could go wiping the HDD and re-installing Windows 8 from scratch route. Even though this is what I did (installed Windows 8.1 Pro Update 1 with a retail license), it is not recommended in your case - it will most likely damage your the partition. Another issue is retail Windows DVD will not have any ASUS customisations (like wallpapers, theme etc) as well as Asus drivers for your specific hardware. Windows 8 is a lot better with recognising the hardware and loading MS drivers, than Windows 7 was, but proper drivers are always recommended over MS generic drivers. If anything goes wrong and you want to recover retail Windows 8, you will need to install these drivers every time after recovery.

You can download the ISO from microsoft directly, just select the right edition and type. The key is in your bios and with the right edition selection it will auto activate.
