GPU temp @ IDLE oscillates between 75-90 C (fan goes on high)
GPU temp in FurMark (Xtreme Burning mode) seems to stay around 100-102 C

This is a referb from NewEgg. I have a 90 day manufacturer warranty as well as a 2yr NewEgg extended warranty (only $54 bucks good deal).

So I need your advice, should I push Asus to do something about these temps? Should I try to repaste the GPU myself? Should I just risk the temps and wait till I have to use the warranty?

    Thank you.

    :)

Repaste it, if you feel comfortable. The CPU and GPU share a heatsink on the g51 series, most people will run at around 90-95 under load, depending on ambient.

Search for FORGE, forge mod, g51vx-FMX ... there is a NBR user who did a great piece on lowering temps on the g51 series, and he was getting low 80s under load.

My only thing with repaste is violating the warranty. Although, I've already opened it up and cleaned it out and there is no warning stickers about violating warranties of any kind. So I'd assume it would be hard to tell if I tampered with it.

Edit: Forge mod? Thanks for the advice :)

If you go through anybody, start with Newegg. They should be much better to work with.

    Thank you micman.

I repasted the GPU and got about 5 deg lower. (Tunic TX-2)

Thats okay, but not great :/ Acceptable I guess. I'll look into more stuff later, thanks.
