Hey guys! I just wanted to share my excitement of getting the new G751JY-DH73-CA. I have gone through two new Alienware machines (AW13 and AW15) and while they're solidly built machines, I found the performance lacking where it shouldn't have been-- gaming! I've had the G751JY for over a week and I must say that I'm very impressed by the beautiful screen, fast boot up time, ample storage and awesome 980m graphics!

Yes the 980M is a pretty big step up over the 970M, I'm glad you are enjoying it :)

Awesome, the G751 sure do have a nice look about them! Always nice to get something new. I am still on a 4.5 year old Asus G73JW-A1 with a 1st generation i7 740QM and a GTX 460m. I am in the process of buying a new laptop, just trying to narrow it down to which one and from whom. Thought I wanted the MSI GT72 Dominator Pro, but think I am going to go a different route. I am taking a look at the Sager NP9377-S with the 4th generation i7 4810MQ and GTX 980m SLI. Pretty huge leap and wonder if I will notice a difference. ;) With that said, this Asus still works fine and I will be keeping it to use for other things. I'm happy for ya. Let us know how it fairs once you get some time on it. Thanks!

There are a lot of decent machines around at the moment and all are quite different which makes things interesting :)

I have the same machine alongside my AW17 R1 (I sold my AW17 R2). One thing to note - the display is the same one used on the AW17 R2 - LG is the only one making 17" IPS panels these days. You're also comparing a 980M to a 970M - somewhat unfair.

But I agree, the G751 is a very nice machine. I can't decide which I like better - the AW or the ASUS. The G751 is much quieter than the AW machines.

It doesn't hurt that I got the G751JY for $1500 CAD.

I actually had the Alienware 15 with 970M + 4K, then switched to the AW15 with the 980M + 4K, both times coupled with the Graphics Amplifier with either the R9 290x or GTX 980 and the performance was below what I expected for the potential that was present.

Congrats on the computer! I was really impressed by how quiet it is under load.

Does anyone here know if the CA version is different than the US version when it comes to the red tint on the back vents? I've seen a few pictures where it has 2 vents instead of 4, and no red tint, I would prefer this and am trying to decide which version to buy. Also I am curious to know if having 2 vents causes the machine to run hotter or louder.

This newegg page and a few other sites have the pictures with the different look that I am talking about,

EDIT- Got my answer on another post, according to another owner the vents are the same and have the same red tint.

The vents will look different depending on the spec due to the cooling differences.
