I went to the sandy bridge asus problem site and entered the serial of my laptop but my laptop doesn't have the the sandy bridge new revision certification on the sticker or the box.
Also the serial I entered was more than 10 digits (15 digits) but it says on asus site laptop serials are 10 digits. Anyway the site says my laptop is not effected by the issue but i learned that if you enter any random numbers in the search engine it says the same thing.
The site to check your system is here: Change SandyBridge for NB
I bought my system from tigerdirect, its the G73SW-XT1.
I asked tiger before the laptop got here and they said that none of these systems has the problem. Do you think my system has the sandy bridge problem?
Thanks.
EDIT: Correction now I see Asus also says that the serial might be 15 characters like mine so Im a little reassured. But what do you think?

Tiger returned all their non-revision units back when it started, so all the ones they are selling are ok.

Remember, only a small fraction of affected laptops were sold, and any stock with affected laptops (from reputable retailers), were sent back to manufacturers to be fixed (all paid by Intel).
Also remember, the recall was in January, and it's August now (tomorrow is September). So it's safe to assume that it is possible ASUS only used the sticker when they initially began re-selling the sandy bridge parts.
Have fun, and keep us updated with your machine -
Thanks guys. Good to know. So far Im very impressed with this system. Its very quiet and looks extremely sleek, blacked out and sick. I was also amazed at how light it is and how seemingly well built it is.
I don't like the partition they have on the 500 gig drive but I don't know if I feel like formatting and reinstalling win7 right now. You guys think its very important to format and start fresh?
I should add that I came from a Sager 5793 which gave me 3 years of service before its video card blew out twice (replaced once). It was a good machine but the card was the biggest issue. I decided I don't want to deal with sager anymore and I wasn't even interested in a very powerful gaming laptop. But I did want 17 inch, 1080 and some kind of video card so videos, aero, movies maybe simulation apps can run smooth. For the price I think this was a good system to fit my needs.
Just got the G73SW, question about sandy bridge recall
