Really excited about this; I've never had a machine run anything on high settings (by anything I mean anything current), and this one right here should do me well for quite some time into the future. Purchased it for $1049.00 from excaliberpc.com. I originally was going to go with xotic, but in order to get the price to even just $1115 I would have had to pay cash/check which is sort of a pain in the at school. (note: I did try to have them price match it for me, they gave me $20 but couldn't go the full match, otherwise I would have gone with them). I tried BHPhotovideo but they weren't accepting my debit, so I got impatient and found excaliberpc, a site with good reviews, so I finally got it for a good price. Hopefully I get it and it works fine with no speed bumps. Free shipping btw.

Thank you for choosing Asus for your ROG needs :D

I usually uninstall the AutoUpdater, Web Storage, and Splendid, plus Trend Micro

Then I run the Windows Color Calibrator wizard to fix the color scheme

Then I order a Intel 6300 ($34 at buy.com) to replace the single channel 2.4GHz 150Mbps Atheros Wifi module, and get a 300/450 Mbps capable unit that supports 5GHz.

Then I'm ready to install Steam :)

I like to use my lappy also a viewer for streaming video, plus transferring files, so I like the extra headroom, especially since no one around me is using 5GHz for WiFi

Well this sucks. Didn't realize it but my debit has a daily withdrawal limit so that's why B&H wasn't processing it and now excaliber isn't. Anyway, my bank doesn't open again 'til monday, so looks like i'll be waiting a few more days. No matter, BF3 and ES Skyrim are over a month away.

Don't expect to be able to run BF3 on max with the A1. I have one, and even with overclocking, I still probably wouldn't meet the recommended settings for the graphics card. Recommended was a Geforce GTX 560. Though, PC gamers will probably find ways to change the "settings.ini" file to still be able to get good detail.

I'm not gonna stress about it much; as long as it's HD with decent settings it's all good to me. I have an IBM thinkpad r61 right now which struggles with low settings on SC2. To be able to play a game as graphics-intensive as BF3 with moderately good settings will be a huge improvement. And for the price I can't complain.
