When I started it up everything has been working perfect. It plays Black Ops without a problem. I did notice there was quite a bit of bloatware included and I just went and purchased some DVD-Rs so I can burn the restore DVDs as it prompts me to do when I start the laptop up.

My question is, I have a Windows 7 Home Premium disc that I installed on my desktop, should I do a clean install on the ASUS laptop and then just install all the drivers from the ASUS driver disc included with the laptop then use the ASUS auto update program? Would that make everything work as it does now; minus all the nasty bloatware?

I've never experimented with laptops much in the past and I don't want to reinstall Windows 7 and have something mess up to make my laptop start crashing or things not working properly. Also, would this void my warranty? I assume making the ASUS restore CDs would set it back to how it came out of the factory. When making the restore CDs, does it exclude all the bloatware?

Sorry I'm such a newbie at all this. I just really rather not restore my laptop and have tons of problems. I'd just like to get maximum performance. I've restored my desktop(that I built) many times. I've just been told laptops are a bit different than desktops.

    Thanks

Anyone have any knowledge about doing a fresh install of windows 7 on an ASUS G73JW-XN1?

    Thanks.

    1) using the backup disks will backup the bloat wear also.
    2) a fresh install is the best way to go
    3) but if you just uninstall the bloatwear the end result is mostly the same. Just research which programs are bloatwear and which are not. Also install the latest Nvidia driver.
