So I jsut sent it in today because it wouldnt charge. I made them aware that it was an old unit but the guy didn't seem too sure if I'd get it replaced with a non recalled version. Just wondering if anyone knows if they're still swapping out recalled laptops?

It better get replaced with a non-recalled version. :) If anything, at least the motherboard should be replaced, since that's the recall item.

The current policy is old units get replaced with new revision units.

I believe that the replacement period was for two months, though I might be wrong?

Then you should have turned around and sent it back to TigerDirect for selling you a defective piece.

See what happens, you might still have a recourse from TigerDirect.

How can they not pay for shipping when they have sent you a defective item. What method of payment have you used, to pay for the machine?

credit card. they were being s about it saying i have to pay the shipping ........ honestly that was the dumbest thing i ever heard and is the reason I no longer shop with tiger direct. i had bought 2,000 worth of electronics in that 1 order and they showed no decency to give me free shipping back for the laptop.

April is too far out now, but I will still get with your credit card company and lodge a complain today online, if possible. Usually, this must be done within 45 days, and this is one of the benefits of paying with credit card.

Do it right now, maybe you are not too late.

It's actually my moms card and she's asleep. I doubt she'll want to file the complaint <_< if it was my card I would have done it the first time.

Either way though, as long as you make it apparent to asus the it is the old revision, they should replace that for you while it's in for repairs. You might have to argue in worst case scenario. But they should just do it, since technically it was supposed to be recalled before you ever bought it.

Sucks that TD wouldn't pay shipping back a long time ago, but now I'd say to concentrate on Asus, and them fixing it for you.

Yeah, that's what I'm going to try to do. I'm going to keep calling them during the repair period to make sure they swap it out.
