Hey guys, just to be sure,

the total freeze of the computer with the last frame on the screen and the sound looping forever is the same thing as the GSOD ?

I've had G73 for a month now and I had only 1 GSOD when playing Battlefield Bad company 2 and a total Freeze in 80% of the time when playing it.

I ask this because it seems its basically the same, the GSOD was the screen going grey and the sound locking/looping forever, the freezes are the exact same thing except with the last frame rendered instead of the grey.

The GSOD was with bios 206 + catalyst 10.4

the freezes occur randomly in about 80% of the time I play battlefield with ANY drivers and bios 209, the original drivers on the CD, the asus ones downloaded from asus site, the asus beta ones, the 10.5 too AND any clock speeds, default, 800/1100, 705/1000

At this point I'm just tired of trying driver/clocks combinations

So, just to be sure, Freeze == GSOD ? And the custom vBios will fix the freezes ?

    (I have the I7 + Blue ray + bag + mouse + headset G73)

And the answer is.... maybe. A freeze isn't necessarily the same thing, tho it could be from the same cause.

Have you tried disabling any hardware you aren't using in the BIOS?

In my experience, freeze isn't always a GSOD (eg, it's caused by bad audio drivers or else). But a GSOD [Grey Screen of Death] (VGA problem) is surely makes your PC / Laptop freeze.

I'm using .209 BIOS and 10.6 mobility catalyst. Then, I tried clock frequency 705/1100 with 1.15 volt, it's perfect for my G73

Have you tried the Realtek R2.49?
    Click this link:
    Realtek
Select the "I accept to the above",
    then download:

    ATI HDMI Audio Device Vista
Windows7 Driver(64bits) Driver only (Executable file)

    Try to install both files.
