I purchased mine yesterday at 7:30 PM EST and due to other things we picked up I never fired it up.
Today at work I bring it in, hook it up, looks beautiful, do windows update, reboot, and the LCD monitor is dead.
Oh man I'm bummed...
BB said they will exchange it so that's cool but be aware that sometimes things happen and, well, there you go.
This obviously left a bad taste in my mouth so I'm going to get BB's super duper warranty added as well just in case something happens in the future.
really bummed...
btw - not that WEI means a whole hill of beans but coming from my Gateway P-6831FX (4.6, 4.6, 6.5, 6.5, 5.9 (RAID 0)) to this (7.0, 7.4, 7.2, 7.2, 5.9) good grief this is going to be a beast compared to what I have been using for the past 2 years. Never got to 3dmark06 it, never installed a thing other than WU.
okay I'm done with this post.

Well just be happy you never bought it directly from Asus or a retailer with the 1080P screen cause then you be waiting two months for some crappy repair that keeps going on and on. When buying Asus just stick to best buy that's how if feel now.

^Bought mine almost two weeks ago. My screen wasn't dead.
-
Mine is in generally good health. Some small problems, but it isn't asus nor ATIs fault.

Well I'm going to swap it out at BB tonight and tack on their 1 year super warranty. Never done that before but I figure I'm going to game the heck outta this machine and really don't want any surprises in the future.
Can't wait to FINALLY start playing all of the games that just don't play well on the old Gateway - The Witcher, Arkham Asylum, Mass Effect, way to many to mention... -
Your gateway should still be able to play most games but the stock cpu holds the 8800m gts back. http://forum.notebookreview.com/gateway-emachines/504306-t5550-vs-x9000-game-benchmarks.html. I would still take a g73 over my gateway though.

The only reason that I bought mine from best buy was to ensure an easy replacement if there were any issues with my purchase.

Just want to be fair to possible purchasers of G73JH-RBBX95
