Keyboard problem. Ok so here is a new problem. I had it for ages though. On my keyboard, following keys "§èyuhjn," don't work (its an azerty keyboard, so these keys lie close too each other). I have bios 211. It began that i had to tap one of those keys 4-5 times before showing. Now they just desiced not to show up anymore. I just called customer care. Who said it was the keyboard. I had to send it in for replacement. Why i couldn't do that myself is a mystery. But im not sure its hardwarerelated. So i don't want to miss my notebook for 3 weeks again. But could this be the case? Sadly I only have a G51 notebook here at home. I tried to switch those keyboards but they didn't seem to respond.

Kevin, try booting into safe mode (F8 shortly after power on) and see if the problem persists. Please let us know

IHi JOSEA, I just entered safemode and it seems to have the same problem there... im typing on an other pc here :). I have read somewhere that bios updates (to BIOS213) fix keyboard problems. Could this be the case???

If your keys are not working at all it could either be the connector being loose or the keyboard itself going bad.

The G51 keyboard is pretty simple to take off, I wrote some instructions here: http://forum.notebookreview.com/6889173-post2.html

You can try taking the big connector out and then putting it back in, making sure it's pushed all the way in before you lock it down. Just be careful with the plastic because it is fragile.

IF Allurgroceries ^^^^ suggestion does not work,
    Hey Kevin, http://forum.notebookreview.com/asus-gaming-notebook-forum/562098-bios-update-g73jh.html

No I would not risk flashing to fix this on a G73JH.. I know it (213) improves keyboard lag and changes when the fans go on (as Crappy Alloy points out in the the second post in that thread). The only other thing I can think of is to attach a USB Key Board and test with it

KEVIN is the issue with the G51 or a G73JH or some other model?

Ok I tested Both things. I pasted my gpu yesterday so im sure it's not the keyboard connector since i disassambled it and the problem wasn't better or worse before. Now I just attached a usb keyboard and this works. So what do you think.
is it worth the risk too buy a new one. Since asus dont want to send one, only take it in for repair :S (i miss dell's customer care).

btw the problem is on the g73jh. But i dont think I want to do a bios update since this destroys a lot of notebooks

Since the external keyboard is good, I would say it has to be the KB failing as ALLURgroceries has stated above. I hear you about Dell , they are Great.
Are you anywhere near any of the authorized service centers?
ASUSTeK Computer Inc. -Support- Service Center
Pick a country on this page, and put in zip code - if you are lucky you may be able to visit the service center and wait for repairs.
Also the update to Bios 213 does not address this issue so good idea not to do it!!!

I'm from Europe (Belgium). So I can't find it out there. Every continent BUT europe :D. I had to send it in before though I think it was somewhere in Germany. The problem is i need this notebook for school. Its just so bad you have to miss it for 3 weeks for something a monkey with seven fingers can do in 15 minutes... When I was with dell they just sended out the parts that were broken, and I gave the broken once back with the shipper. Afterwards i could even call them and they would stay with you on the line untill it was fixed... Too bad asus dont use this strategy... :(

Are you sure it's not just a Windows configuration problem?

I honestly don't know. Ill check some on that I think a good test would be a clean install but that is so definite...

Try booting into some Linux Live CD and see if it works there.
Also, if you have a Windows installation DVD on hand, try booting into it and go to the Recovery Console. Type notepad in to the console and Notepad will launch. Test your keyboard there.
A clean install would clear all doubt, though.

Try a linux livecd like ubuntu or a liveusb like unetbootin before you go reinstalling windows.

That AZERTY keyboard is harder to find, but not impossible. You can probably get a replacement for around 50 euro. It's the same as the G51/G53 keyboard.
