Asus sent me some nice memory to play with.

I got 2 8G packs here for 16GB ( 4x4 ) and according to the descriptions, it's backwards compatible with non-2nd gen i7's, just no PnP support on the memory settings. Seeing as we cannot OC Sandy's and having dedicated GPU RAM, I'm not certain what kind of benefits to yield from this. (People with Intel GPU systems reap some wild benefits in gaming however. I saw a review with HAWX2 and getting 75% FPS boost with the Intel 3000)

However, it's been long felt that JH/JW's have been memory limited in their OC attempts, and I'm curious to see if these would do something about that. :D

I'd like some feedback as to what you'd like to see test-wise on these.

Some basic gaming benchmark comparisons at stock clocks to start with to see if they make any difference in gaming and then onto highest OC possible..!! (If they enhance the ocing capability)

I'd like to see the same as kurtcocaine to see if it's benefitial to swap out my stock ram for this. I'm only able to setup SETFSB to 159 on BIOS 213. Before I was able to get to 168. Don't think I need 16GB, but I can start with 8 pending your positive results.

Don't feel too bad, as I don't get to keep them.

Well that's horse poop. With the amount of stuff you've done for ASUS on this forum alone, I think they owe you at least 8GB to keep! :p

Well, I finished my write-up on the RAM over at asusrog, and, in a nutshell, the RAM is nice for Sandybridge models, and mostly pointless on 1st Gen i7's, since they lack any 1866 support, and it doesn't help with overclocking of Gen 1 models.

For more details with the G73Sw, check out the thread in the G Series Notebook forum. I'm not posting it here due to the large number of oversized pics, and unfortunately I cannot provide a direct link.

    Another great thread Chastity thanks!
So is there any chance that Asus will use this stuff in the G74?

Well, it's relatively new, so if I was to hazard a guess, probably only in their Ferrari versions. But it would make a nice upgrade option from the boutique sellers.
