I just received my laptop back from Asus for warranty repairs as I had the dreaded PSOD (Psychadelic Screen of Death). Took about a week.

The new LCD panel has 2 bright white spots aligned vertically about an inch apart on the right side of the screen. The spots are about the size of a 2.5mm earphone plug tip. They are very noticeable on an all white background, faintly visible under darker backgrounds, but undetectable in an all black background.

Just wondering if most of you guys would send it back or just live with it. What do you guys think?

Those kinds of blotches are from uneven backlighting, they can show up after a year or more but shouldn't be present on a brand new LCD. You should consider them defects, if they are noticeable send it back. If it's not so noticeable you may have a problem convincing them to change out the screen again.

I agree with cayocayo. Just out of curiosity is the the Hannstar or AUO ? If you have a choice I would ask for the Hanstar, if you decide to return it. Sorry to hear about your issue.

Good points ALLURG.. I would suggest setting the desktop wall paper to all white when/if you ship it back or take it to an authorized service center.

Thanks for the feedback guys...guess I'll be giving Asus another call. It is the Hannstar. Good tip about setting the background to all white as well.

I have 1 very small and nearly unnoticeable spot on my screen; I can see it on the grey here as I'm replying, but I have to look for it and focus on it before it really shows up. I also have a piece of dust under my screen. Both of these after an RMA.

I think I'm just going to live with them, after the horrors I've gone through with Asus' repair teams. This is the 1080p AUO by the way.
