Hello everyone!
First of all sry for my bad english, i am from austria ^^
I have a question about the LG LP173WD1-TLC1 display. How inferior is the LG display in comparison to Hannstar display? Ok I know, LG display has only a max resolution of 1600x900, but i dont know the contrast ratio and black level. As far as i know from notebookcheck, Hannstar display has a very good contrast ratio about 1000:1 and a black level with 0,17 cd/m² (thats very good).
I found some sites in google how much contrast ratio the LG display has, but i am not sure to thrust their information, because some sites says 600:1 and some other 400:1, but no information if this was measured by max brightness or not. Also there are no information about the black level for this LG display.
At some threads in Asus Forum i know that the LG has a nice brightness level, so that shouldnt be a problem.
If u are asking why i dont take the FHD display:
At the moment my G73JH notebook has a FHD display, but it has 6(!) dead pixels - 4 black, 2 bright. Asus told me they wont RMA because, only with 8 dead pixel (or 6 but only black dead pixel). I am thinking to get a 1600x900 display because of performance (better fps because of lower max resolution) and better picture quality (not blurry like FHD display @ 1600x900)
So i hope some of u can help me![]()

1600x900 panel quality across all manufacturers is inferior to the quality of the FHD panels in many ways, including angles, color, clarity, etc.
Stich with a FHD panel. If you want to run a game at 900p, then just set the panel to 1600x900, and set the driver to do 1:1 scaling, to avoid the blurries from stretching.
