i am not sure never seen that number before.

    edit:

there is a way to check by going into device manager, as for memory speed i am uncertain and would rather not give you any incorrect information.

hopefully someone with more knowledge will be able to link the post on how to check them shortly, but i will try to find the post in the meantime and re-edit or place new post.

at the beginning of this thread is how to check screen if you have opened the box and memory is in the 2 page of this thread.

Can you give us more information? That doesn't tell us much.
Also, a picture of your side sticker would help a lot!

    Thank you!

FYI, I pulled my ram out and it is 1066mhz Hynix ram.
What manufacturers of ram are you guys getting?

Also FYI because of the tighter timing on 1066, it should perform the same if not slightly better then the 1333.

Ill check what monitor I got when I get home.

So LG with stickers on the right (except the big one) and 1066 Hynix ram!

This thread is regarding the J0X number and determining what screen it is on the outside of the box.

Your J0X number would be useful.

    Again with that JOX:
    LG Screen
    1066 Hynix ram

Also please do keep in mind that the 1066 memory is NOT slower then the 1333.
It benches the exact same and even beats the 1333 at sandra bandwidth because of the much tighter timings.

So if you can only find one with 1066, its in no means a "worse" laptop.

I purchased my G73 at BB using advice from this thread.

    J0X-9C6078

    LG Screen, 1066 Ram

They had 2 AU screens on display and they really did look pretty bad.

    Thanks!

Please stop asking for rep, if they wish to rep you, they will. You do not need to ask.

This thread has been helpful, and I as well as others appreciate it. But rep begging is a no no.

    Regardless, begging is not allowed.

    gib
    –noun
    1. a hooked prolongation that develops during the spawning season on the lower jaw of a male salmon or trout.

That quote takes on a whole new purpose once you know what a gib means. ;)

I'm upgrading from the G72 BB Edition which happens to have the exact same LG screen. (Hardware ID: LDG01DD) I've always thought the screen on my G72 was very nice.

And yes it's much better than the AU screen. The AU screens they had on display had slightly lower brightness and much worse viewing angles.

They had is placed the AU G73 directly next to the G72 with the LDG01DD and the difference was very obvious. My girlfriend even commented that she thought it was unfair of Asus to charge the same for both models.

No, I heard the LG was better, so I returned the one with the AUO. Was going to get the g73-X3 but got the w870cu for about the same price with the 920.

Mine just arrived (from portland, US -> Tokyo, Japan), sadly though it's got the JOX-XX and a AUO display. Not that I can tell much of a difference from my Dell E1705 TruBright 1080p HD display that I bought in 2007. Helped a lot turning the gamma down a lot in display config, the viewing angle is still so-so.
Got the 1333Mhz ram as well btw. Stickers on left side.

Edit: a little off topic; where can I find the latest display driver? (Been searching but can only find links to Asus's support site where the latest driver is 2+ months old).

I got mine yesterday. A gift from my mother in law. I got the AUO panel the number JOX-0XXX. Since this screen is better than my previous Dell XPS I don't really have any complaints to this machine. And you can't beat the price. Since there's all this bruhaha over the screen manufacturers though I was thinking why not just buy a replacement screen? Isn't it possible? I know that is spending more than the 1300$ already spent but couldn't you get a much better monitor (like a 1080p screen) and essentially save money (as opposed to buying an A1 model or whatever).

If I have any issues with my monitor later I'll probably just do that and buy replacement assuming its possible.

That guy seems pretty vague. I'm just going to assume its possible but I wouldn't do the repair myself I'd just go to a repair place and show them which replacement screen to order. I've had laptop screens replaced before only difference here would be a resolution difference and if going higher res was some kind of problem I'd just get the LG.

For now though I'm having no problems with mine. Its better than my previous laptop viewing angle wise so I don't know what I'm missing til I have an extra 150$.

So, what's the exact deal with AUO vs LG. Is the viewing angle the only problem? What else? Colorfulness? Pixel pitch? I wish someone would post pictures of both AUO and LG taken with macro shot and show the difference?

I'm seeing some mixed statements on the memory speed. When all is said and done, what is better for this laptop as far as gaming? If you had the choice of picking either a JOX-9C6 or a JOX-9C8 which would you go with?

RAM speed doesn't really matter (1066 vs 1333), as long as you got the LG screen, you're better off. I got the AUO, but im happy with mine

    Picked mine up today. :)

    J0X-013719

    AUO LCD
    Kingston PC3-10700 RAM (1333)

Never saw a LG panel, but the AUO looks fine to me. When I turned it on for the first time, I thought I got an LG. :p However, view angle is very limited. Not sure if the LG panel has a more relaxed view angle than the AUO.

You guys crack me up! I have the auo lcd and it looks beautiful and guess what, I'm comparing it to my Macbook pro and it looks just fine. So far I've read through 10 pages of pure BS and no one has produced a side by side image of this petty nonsense. What exactly is the difference??? please share your expertise besides rumors and here say. No matter how you slice it, this laptop kicks the snot out of everything in it's class with AUO or LG. Just be happy with what you got and have a f%$king beer or something. Here's something you should check, dead pixels. I have zero and that was my biggest fear when purchasing.
