I am glad it helped. NBR is a great forum.

Cowboom needs to get smacked for selling the refurbs for almost the same price as the new model.

I know a lot on here think the AUO is good, but I'm sitting with a MacBook (who's screen is also better then the LG) and the AUO next to it looked horrible. The LG not as good as my MacBook but it is quite good with how vivid the colors are. I say if you don't know the difference, don't worry about it lol. -
@Synergi: Now if you compared the FullHD Hannstar panel to your LG, you'd notice some differences

J0X-053654 and LG/1333 here.

Hey, just wanted to say thanks for bringing this issue to my attention. Fortunately, I read this thread prior to buying my G73JH from Best Buy. I'd like to share my personal experience to help others out.
So last Thursday I went to Best Buy and looked at all of their available G73s. The clerk probably thought I was a little weird, but he was compliant. None of the boxes had numbers matching anything posted on this thread. The closest was J0X-053652. So I took it home and it was not only an open box item, but it was also broken. The memory was clocked at 1333MHz and it had an AUO139(e?) monitor. I would have kept this unit, but I got GSODs upon playing games.
I returned this unit on the basis that it was just broken, so I picked up another with the same code. Same exact hardware, 1333MHz memory and AUO screen. This time around, however, I noticed just how bad the screen was. I know some users here have reported that the AUO screen is just fine, but it bugged me enough to return this item as well. The first thing I noticed was the poor dot pitch, which was large enough to see gaps between the pixels. The screen was also a little on the dark side, and the corners were not backlit terribly well.
So I return to Best Buy and made up some excuse that this one was also fubar, and told them that I wanted a new one. So on a whim, I grabbed one with a J0X-061113 code, and jackpot, LG screen and 1333MHz memory. The screen is noticeably less grainy looking and sharper than the AUO, imo. The colors also seem to be brighter and more accurate.
Hope this helps someone out there, good luck finding your perfect G73JH-RBBX05. -

I can't speak directly to the matter as it related to G73JH screens, but I do want to note, for all those worried people out there and for what it's worth:
I bought a N71Jq-A1 laptop a few months ago, and it turns out that it has an AUO screen.
I'm very picky about screens, and yet I have no problem with this one. It's a beautiful, bright screen -- glossy but not blinding as I had feared.
The AUO screen used in the G73JH may or may not be of lesser quality, but AUO does not seem IMHO to be an inherently inferior brand. -

I got RBBX05 3 months ago and i found my view angel really suck when watching movies and playing games, last week my friend bought A2 and I suprised that his LCD is better than me of angel view and contrast. so I tried search and found you guys here. I assumed I got AOU LCD but when i check I found I got LG screen JOX-9C6078. That's so weird because is that differnce between 2 models JOX-9C6078 and LG screen of A2 ?

Since I use my laptops looking straight on I didn't really have a viewing angle issue with the BB version I used to have.
Cheers, -
Hey there guys!
I got the BB version with the dreaded AOU panel. Does anybody knows if its possible to replace it with the Hannstar screen? I mean, do they have the same connectors and stuff?
Thanks! -

Just bought mine today, thank you VERY much for making this thread and to all those who contributed to it!
I have an LG display and my "code" was J0X-053654.
I'm not sure how to tell what type of memory I have but if you guys post how then I will find out and give you guys an update.
I will tell you that my local Best Buy also had a J0X-066109 and that was a AUO display (again, unknown memory type).
Hope this helps you guys.
Thanks again for the wealth of information! -
You can download HWMonitor, it will tell you what RAM you have.

Anyone Know how to tell LG Screen or AUO screen from the new Asus G73JH-BST7, the new model come with i7 740QM CPU? Someone said they did got LG screen but the one I got is AUO screen. My PO# is J0X-074878. Thanks!

The Asus samples I've seen all have grey blacks.
Regards,
Mike -
anyone know what screen for G73JH-BST7 with P/O # J0X-084088?
EDIT: Just figured out this is an AUO screen with 1333Mhz memory... -
I got the AUO screen on my new G73 from BB last week too. I think it looks great from straight on though. And yeah the angles suck but I just think of it as a built in privacy screen
-
I used to have the terrible AUO 16x9 screen on my BB version of G73, but I did replacement on it and changed it to an LG 1920x1080 Matte. It looks better now. Viewing Angle is superior than AUO and it has better ratio and everything is just better than it except the brightness. Yes, AUO can get higher brightness, but who needs it anyways?? There's no light bleeding as well, not like on some people who has the Hannstar which they said that they do have light bleeding on their screen.
LG vs. AUO Screen Best Buy G73JH (We may have found a way!)
