It is known that the game "Lord of the Rings - War in the North" is shuttering / lagging even on quite a few highend systems with AMD graphics due to a software bug. It is on the G73 quite playable (While its not lagging you get stable 60FPS on maximum details).

Has anyone here a solution to get rid of this annoying laggs ingame? All modern games run fine on my G73 and my temperatures are just fine, only LOTR - WitN is causing issues which are probably caused by the console optimized engine or a good deal with Nvidia :p

Get the latest whql approved drivers from Nvidia, drop them on your desktop.

Uninstall your nVidia bloatware (HDaudio/update) from programs, then finish off by uninstalling the drivers themselves. Finish off by rebooting into safe mode.

Once in safe mode, run Driversweep and clear out the remnants of the previous Nvidia packages. Reboot back into Windows normally.

IMPORTANT: Install the latest Nvidia drivers from your desktop using CUSTOM SETUP. Deselect all the crap, leaving just the display drivers. Continue and install the driver. Restart once again and see if that fixes stuff.

I'd spent ages trying to stop Starcraft 2 stuttering - even on lowest settings, and this seemed to get rid of 90% of it, I'm putting the other 10% down to background system processes that I can't control. The stutters seem to be synchronised to sound output which can also auto-turbo the CPU (previously leading me to believe that Intel Turbo Boost was at fault).

Exactly, it is a Radeon 5870. The related forums are full of shuttering reports which are not related with any driver issues.
