    Hi there,

I'm not going to fool anyone into thinking I'm a pro, but I like to think I know my way around a computer.
I recently purchased an Asus G53JW-A1 and have been very happy with it since it arrived.
Quiet, powerful, responsive - everything you could need from a portable system.

However over the past week or more there has been a serious lag issue when returning to use from a period of roughly 3 hours or more of inactivity.
I mean SEVERE lag, the kind you would expect from a single core CPU under extreme load.

It's not gone to "Sleep", the hard disk is not inactive and in fact the only thing it's supposedly resuming from is having turned off the screen.
I close the lid, leave it to do it's thing and come back to a mess.

I'm assuming that unless this is a hardware issue, or my very few, spartan applications are interfering then this would affect ALL JW models, not just the G53.

    Has anyone experienced anything similar?

I have since performed a fresh install of Windows 7 Ult. and the necessary Asus applications for day to day use but to no end.
I am not asking for anyone to solve my problem for me, although any help would be greatly appreciated - both by me and any users experiencing something similar.

Among the first things I tried when I first bought the laptop.
Been through the G53 overclocking and bloatware threads as well to no avail.
I appreciate the fast response! If only my laptop did the same ;D

Hmm, that's weird. It may have something to do with the power saving features. You could try disabling HDD sleep mode and similar and see whether it helps.

OnslaughtNZ, SVL7 may be on the right track, R U using a power4gear profile, or one of the standard windows power profiles?

I would update BIOS, apply SP1, and update hdd firmware and SATA drivers.

Having disabled all power saving options as a first effort of fixing this, I've found it's not the issue.

I'm currently using a Power4Gear profile, purely for the ease of use button.
But it does the same on a windows profile as well.

I'll reapply SP1 and update all my hardware drivers again, but I'd prefer to not have to edit the BIOS unless absolutely necessary.

Thanks for all your help, glad to see I'm the only one with this problem haha.

    Cheers,
    Miles
