Someone was asking about coolers on asusrog.com, so I decided to post a copy here of my response:

Whoops my bad. Still a decent OC though.
So Chastity, when and why did you switch to a green machine if you don't mind my asking?

Not to steal these questions away from Chastity but where have you been WarWyrm? lol Pretty sure she (in one or more threads a while ago) said ASUS sent her it for review, if im not mistaken, as shes now a mod over at the ROG forums, she also reviews the laptops for them, then gets to keep them (I think).

I could be entirely wrong though aha and if I am, my apologizes Chastity.

I seriously don't see the point of needing a cooler with G73. Its cooling is perfect as long as the thermal paste is applied properly.

What gets me is there is no Slide out for a Mouse Pad...

If you use that cool on your Lap. how in the world could you use the Track pad for gaming..

Unless you are some SUper Faster MOFO, the Track pad is not a gaming helper....

Oh well .... Maybe I am the wierd one who likes a real mouse....

This think is not even for sales yet??

I have 2 review units here: G73JW-A1 and a G53JW-A1. The G73 is going back to be replaced by a G73SW model. (hopefully the 3DE)

I just picked up the NC3000S for £20 as im not impressed with my NC2000 and like to use my G73 on my bed instead of a table so need something elevated.

Anyone have the NC3000S and can comment on it? I notice it has a plastic surround im not to fussed about this but wondered how the 220mm fan works? Also I couldnt see the connection to the USB is this underneith or do u have to use one of the USB ports at the rear?

EDIT: OMG I have just taken a look at the CoolerMaster SF19 and now I am regretting buying it :S I think I may have to sell it and pick up the CoolerMaster SF19 instead! lol

I've seen the vid from the review of the sf19 on notebookcheck.
If you like it unstealth, buy it ;)
Wasn't it the most pro, that the G73 is one of (the only?) the silent gamer ones?
A NC3000 is a silent bro next to the G73. But yeah, a G73 don't need an extra cooler, it even don't benefit from it. Almost 1-2°C on load.

But with a NC3000 plus SSD you can get a totally silent G73(JH) for about 5 minutes. Then gpu fan starts and cools for 20 seconds. :D
    Idle!

I have already ordered the NC3000S so I will see what its like first :) The only downside to the S-19 is the size of it I dont like having to raise my arm to reach the touchpad. I bet its noisy as hell as well 2600RPM duel fans :D

The SF-19 does have a fan-speed adjuster wheel, so you can dial it down. On max there is a serious WHOOOSH factor. :D Use headphones on max. I need to dig out my dremel and mod the grill to allow greater airflow. This way you can use a lower setting to get the same result.

I tend to agree especially for the JW/SW models. However, for me I want a decent cooler to help protect the bottom of the laptop. Cooler would catch most of the dust/just keep the bottom from getting scratches and losing its rubber feet.

Other than that, cooling seems to be efficient enough for me(even runs cooler than my old desktop CPU/GPU wise(i3 540,GTS250) and 10-15db quieter).

You really want to pick up a laptop pad then to be honest because the laptops coolers blow the dust which is normally underneith it directly into it :( you have to decide if you want cooling over dust because my Zalman 2000 cough out a ton of dust.

Its true these laptops are very well made in regards to cooling but as I have mine on my bed I dont have a table in my flat I need it to make sure it doesnt block the vents.

Well i just got a SF-19, one of its fans' blades was dislocated from its base but i popped it back in and the magnet holds it in. i cant return it as it was shipped from the US to India so too exp to return..

a couple of questions about the cooler,
    1. is there no way i can keep the leds on all the time, do i just have to let the rpm control whether it dims or stays on all the time?
    2. does anyone know about the noise and CFM rating of the fans?? so when i'm looking at aftermarket fans i can compare

So impressed with the Zalman 3000S it works perfectly on my bed because its raised so that fan can still produce full air flow.

ultra silent and very good cooling comes out of the slow large fan.

Big enough to easily handle 17-19 inches.
