Hi all, my has been reporting that my laptop that he seems to now be his ;) keeps shutting down when he is playing World of Tanks or Truck Simulator 2.

I think maybe because its getting to hot? Other games seem fine.

I updated the catalyst drivers to 11.5 the ones suggested in the FAQ to see if the would make a difference, it has not.

I wonder if anyone is able to us some advice.

    Thanks all.

You need to run a few diagnostic programs like core temp and msi afterburner to monitor what is going on, and which chip may be overheating.

Report what they say as it could be other problems, possibly with the power brick if the temperatures are normal.

Ok, MSI After burner is showing at idle 74 Deg C - That seems a little warm? Room temp is normal

Define normal room temp. For me it's ~22C, for others it could be 25 or even higher depending on where in the world you're located.

Regardless of that, 74C idle is way too high, i usually idle in the low 50 degrees with 22ish room temps.

First step is to clean the vents. Only if that does not work do you then think about a repaste which will require a lot more work.

Those temps are nothing to worry about my 5870M at its best still idled at 50oC in the UK with low ambient temp, the best I got it to was 78oC and with a furmark test still hit 88oC.

Anything below 90oC with that card is under optimum conditions. It was common that it hit 100oC and still ran fine.
