Does the G73JW need a laptop cooler when being used for hard gaming , and regular use.

And if not would not keeping laptop temps down be good for life of PC :)

Please use the search button, because if you would have, you would see that it doesn't really do any good.

I would't say that they don't do any good.I have a zalman nc 2000 and in furmark without repasting i have a temperature of obout 95 degrades, and without it's about 102 degrades, in idile i have a temperature of about 49 degredes and without about 56. So they can do the trick.

The same affect can be caused by lifting the back of the machine up less than half an inch. I put a notepad under my battery and it drops my temperatures by 3-4 degrees.

Of course you are wright but you gain another 4 degrades with the air that comes from the cooling pad.The investment is not very large and olso if you don' trust yourself to do the repaste is a good solution. For me works great.

screw the cooler since air gets sucked in from the top. If u want better temps, upgrade to Ic diamond or whatever other u prefer.

Whether you need a cooler or not while gaming depends on how well your gpu is pasted to its heatsink.

Best mod I ever did but I warn you that the process of taking apart the laptop takes patience.

The only games I play are WoW and SC2. I mainly have been playing WoW since I'm a full-time raider. My temps reached as high as 84C when in Water areas + ultra settings. After the repaste I'm hitting 70-74 C in water areas and other areas I"m between 60-66C. Last night during our 10-man raid on Cho'Gall I never went above 64C.

    That linked cooler looks great.

Would need a Mouse pad to be of any real use to me and it needs to be for sale...

But for my work station is would be great...
