After the windows logo on start up, the screen turns off for like two minutes, then I finally get to the login screen. Here's a picture to show what screen I am talking about. It's just really frustrating that it takes 3 minutes for the laptop to get to the login screen.

Are you using stock HDD? When did you buy your G53SW?

To add to that, how many processes are running out of the box, how long has it been since you defragged your HDD and have you run a HDD health scan either using chkdsk or another utility?

I am using the stock HD, I bought it used from ebay about a month ago. I've done a complete clean install of windows 7 ultimate 64bit, and I have found out that it has to do with the new nvidia drivers. The problems goes away when I go back to the stock driver, but I can't play any new games with that driver. So, I just decided to deal with it and instead of shutting it down I just put it in hibernate mode and that also stops the long startup.

Your nVidia drivers shouldn't take that long to load. Have you tried different driver versions and did you tick the clean install option when you installed them.

It's definitely the drivers. After I did a clean install of windows, I used my factory driver cd and installed everything it came with. The problem wen't away after that. I then installed battlefield 3, restarted to check if the problem came back, and it didn't. Then I tried to play the game but it needed a newer version of the nvidia driver. So then I downloaded the newest driver, restarted and booted up into safe mode and performed a clean install of the new driver. After that I restarted and the problem came back.
