I currently have a G72GX but have been eyeing the G53 the past day. (I just found out that it existed)
Is there a comprehensive listing to explain the suffix letters in the various models?
Basically what is the difference between -XN1 , -A1 , -3DE or whatever else there is that I haven't seen yet.
There has to be an explanation of these suffixes somewhere, right?

To be honest, there much reason to understand the suffixes, they aren't standard across lines, only within the line.
The first letter is the line - G(aming), K(consumer), UL(ultra light), U(ltra portable), e(N)ternatinment. The second correlates to screen size - UL + 3 is a 13 inch, n90 = 19 inch. 8 is odd, it's a 14 inch. The third number is the revision. g53 is the 3rd 15 inch g series. the last two letters mean a variety of things. T can be turbo, H is ATI gpu, W is nvidia. Q is quad core, V is core2duo ... -
the suffix differences are due to differences in configuration (ram, hdd, cpu) and accessories (backpack, mouse)
-3DE suffix goes for 3D Vision equipped notebooks.
Also it depends to local distribution channels. For example in my country there is no short suffix (A1, XN1, 3DE) but a 6 char suffix model, like the one in my signature.
Looking at a G53JW. Need Help with Suffix
