Hoping someone can help me out. I'm looking for a stock G53 460M 1GB vBios.

My dilemma is this. I bought the wrong replacement card for my G53SW. The laptop fires up and loads windows without a hitch but the driver won't install. It turns out that I bought a G53SX video card, which is a 560M with 1 or 2GB memory, and since they have the same chip markings and memory bus width I want to see if flashing it to the 460M will enable me to install drivers. It might be wishful thinking but I think its worth a try. :)

    What? So, you installed a G53Sx 560m into a 53Sw?

Also, the two versios of the 560m are 2GB 128bit or 1.5GB/3GB 192bit.. So.. How do you have a 1GB card?

Edit: The 460m and the 560m are not the same card so flashing the 560m with a 460m bios would not work or could brick your system.

You probably want a 560m bios from a G53Sx or a G74sx depending on which card you got.

Yeah, a G53SX 560M into my G53SW. Not sure why I thought there was a 1GB version but I guess I have the 2GB version then because I'm missing 4 memory ic's on the card.

The card looks exactly like this one

My old card looks exactly like this one

EDIT, The card I have already has the 560m bios which I cant install the driver for and the G74 laptops have their gpu's built into the motherboard, so I doubt that will work.

That's really incredible. How difficult was it? Did you just need the card or new heatsinks etc?

Is the 560m a proprietary Asus card? I am guessing that any other 560m will not work.

Original heatsink was used since the new card is exactly the same as my old card minus the missing memory ic's. Just to be clear, this is NOT an upgrade but actually a downgrade. I just want to be able to load the video drivers and make the gpu/laptop work together. Even though the new card might have 2GB memory, everything else is exactly the same.

I know there is a chance I could brick the gpu but its a chance I'm willing to take. Hopefully someone can oblige. :)
