I'd take a look through this thread:

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/asu...um/641007-g73jh-6970m-upgrade-infomation.html

There are also threads talking about 7970m and 680m's as well:

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/asus-gaming-notebook-forum/657920-ati-hd-7970m-asus-g73jh.html

As far as SSD, any decent drive will work well, but remember the G73's are SATA2, not SATA3... they'll work with SATA3 drives of course, but it will only run at SATA 2 speeds, so no point buying the fastest drives for a premium price.

    For disassembly tips:

    Good luck!

Plus the SATA III drives are likely to be faster with small files which are not limited by the bus.

You could try a PM but otherwise you would have to figure it out for yourself since this mod is not all that common.

I've considered the same thing, but I have decided not to and suggest you don't as well. This mod gets pretty pricey(especially with the 7970) and requires some custom modding. I suggest you sell your laptop for ~$600 and use that money to just buy a new Clevo or MSI laptop. You can upgrade your vga all u want, but you will still end up limited by your cpu. The worth of your laptop(600ish)+6970(300ish)+new power cord(IDK how much they are but i assume $50+) and you're around $1000. For 1 or $200 more you'll get a better performing laptop with a better cpu that you won't have to frankenstein mod together.

    just my $.02

Worth considering in this case I agree.
