Hey guys, I just got my G73-XB1 the other day. I've been mostly playing League of Legends on it. Here's my specs.

    i7 Processor
    Nvidia GTX460M 1.5G DDR5
    6 GB DDR3 RAM

I'm not going to go too far into the specs, as nothing was upgraded. But, I've been geting around 59-63 fps in LoL. When I use my turbo boost button, FPS decreases and I get around a constant 52ish. Which is strange. Would this be normal performance? Should it be running better? Everything is on high, with shadows off. And what measures can I take to possibly improve my performance, or maximize it? I could obviously overclock, but I'd be 100% new to that, and wouldn't want to mess anything up.

    Thanks, Ryan.

Theres not much you can mess up in overclock unless you overclock severely high. You can simply just download msi afterburner (google it) and I download the latest beta but you don't have to. Most people go for 800/1600/1500 first as it is the most stable for most users (although not all). You know if it is a problem if you see noticeable distortions or your nvidia drivers crash. And just to break it down raise 675 mhz to 800 mhz on core clock, 1350 to 1600 mhz on shader clock and 1250 mhz to 1500 mhz on memory clock. If problems do arise, simply click reset on MSI Afterburner and it will revert back to stock clock settings. By the way, why do you need FPS improvements? League of Legends should not be highly graphic intensive anyway. And I have heard people saying turbo boost doesn't really do anything.

Thanks for the advice, I'll have to look into it. And, I dont NEED fps improvements. I was just wondering if this performance is acceptable for what I paid for in my machine.

    don't mess with MSI Afterburner.
you can simply download the nvidia system tools if you want to overclock.
about the Twin Turbo button, leave it alone - its a known problem, in all the monitoring software it does show an higher clock rates of the CPU and the memory(RAM) frequency but I have no idea why it makes the performance in games suck...

besides, the GTX460m is an awesome card, there is no reason you wouldn't get LoL maxed out in 60 stable FPS.
make sure you have the latest nvidia drivers installed.

Would the Live Update program that came with my computer do my drivers, or, where could I do it manually? I know sometimes drivers can be messed up, I wouldnt want to screw up my performance and make it worse.

Asus live update is buggy and you should trash it and avoid like it is the black plague.

Latest drivers here: NVIDIA DRIVERS 280.26 WHQL. Get them from nvidia's site...

EDIT: When you install them, select a custom install and tick clean install.

Here's why the turbo affects performance badly: http://forum.notebookreview.com/gam...must-read-setfsb-o-c-game-problems-fixed.html. Two different timing function in windows 7 not agreeing with each other. Also 59-63 fps means you probably have v-sync enabled which will lock your fps at 60.

Yeah! I just unlocked it and it seems unstable but I was reaching near 100 fps at times. I just installed WoW. Terrible performance. But i've seen this issue alot. Any suggestons? Getting around 30 fps. Should get 60 solid and them some.

Many users here have also had lower performance problems using Turbo mode.
fortunately already been resolved how to solve this problem.

I ask that you carefully read this topic.
without a doubt will help you.

You can try the settings in my signature and see if that helps. The latency script is also helpful - but it won't do anything for your FPS.

It's okay :) now I'm stumped to why WoW is running so terrible. I'll have to try suggestions mentioned thusfar. Anyone know why I might be getting 30 FPS in World of Warcraft with 6 gigs ram, i7, and 1.5g video ram? Doesn't make sense at all.
