So I got my G73JH-A1 back from RMA and it seems they replaced the gpu and lcd. My temps are now great and I have no VSOD's since installing the latest vbios.

My problem is that my mic now sounds aweful, like I'm talking from within a bucket or a tunnel. I have the same OS/drivers etc as I just plugged my SSD back in so I am starting to think that they might have nodged my sound-hardware.

I'm using the X-FI/modded R2.48 which TheMarkness posted.

    Any ideas?

Make sure you don't have any effects enabled, especially ones like reverb and echo. Also make sure there is no protective plastic film covering the mic and that your mic gain is at a reasonable level.

If that doesn't help someone else will know how to tweak it better. I don't use windows so I can't give you exact instructions.Good luck. :)

I have tried using all combinations of effects off, noise-cancellation, ac-whateverit'scalled and what not. To now avail. I currently have my mic too 100% and 20% mic boost as they can't hear me on Ventrilo otherwise. I did however try no mic boost to see if the "effect" came away, but it didn't. It sounds more or less like when using the EAX effect bathroom I think.

Well I managed to find a usable setup with my mic placed far from my mouth. I know it's not the mic though as it sounds excellent on another computer and did sound well on my G73 before the RMA.This is however clearly audible so I guess I will have to live with it.
