A couple of days I got a virus on my notebook and was to lazy to reformate it. Hell, I worked for computer company in highschool reformatting computer all day, but this is a little different. I have to cd's. I just noticed in the box the Asus g74 came in has no cd's or recover disk whatsoever. I can get a windows 7 cd and use that, but how will I get my network card to start working without driver.

    Any help?

Why don't you identify the virus name and look up instructions to remove it rather than format? Did you catch the Ping.exe that's been going around? There's a removal tool out for it.

Rampagex, you will need to go to the ASUS site ASUSTeK Computer Inc. -Support- Drivers and Download
    for the network card driver.
OR to the manufacturer's site (such as Nvidia for Video card drivers)

Depending on who you purchased from the retailer may be able to supply a driver disk (most models do come with this AFAIK)
I know Powernotebooks does this for their customers and am sure XocticPC and Gentech would do the same, the problem is the drivers would be old and you would have to go the the asus support site for updates anyway.
Tijo's suggestion would be the easiest IMO see next post!
Once you get your machine up and running to your satisfation I would recommend creating an image file on an external hard drive for quicker recoveries.

You could also try the recovery partition which you can access through F9.

They often include a driver disc, you don't have a recovery disc, but at least you have the stock drivers so you can use a windows install disc with it.

    Hi RampageX,

    Sorry about the virus. :(

You can redo your system by:

    1) F9 at ASUS POST screen, and do the Recovery from the Recovery Partition

    2) You can use a Win 7 Install ISO / Disc, and use the key on your lappy to activate. The driver CD should have most of the apps and drivers. If you have no CD, then go to ASUSTeK Computer Inc. -Support- and do a search for G74SX. Click Downloads for the drivers and apps.

    3) Hit the eStore and buy a recovery set for $50.

    4) Use the Recovery DVD set you burned when you first got it.

Is there any chance that ASUS will ever allow owners to DL recovery DVD's from their FTP site or the site mentioned in point 3 above without any charge?
